MFSW Saga

MrGringo - same advice as CJ. Once the screw is out and you've lowered the column adjustment arm you should be able to wiggle the cowling off fairly easily. Might take a bit of jiggling around.

Paddy - glad you've got the wires installed  Torque wise I'm not sure but I just made sure I put it back on with the same force I needed to get it off, plus an addition 10% of effort.

OK so I managed to get the cowling off in the end (there's a little clip and two vertical pins at the back which were causing me difficulties).
And guess what... My Facelift roadster doesn't have the cables fitted, so looks like I'll be ordering the cable. Just out of interest, how long does it take to fit the cable? If someone could send me the PDF that'd be awesome. Now have to decide if it's worth fitting it as the car is going up for sale and I may switch the wheel out before I sell it.

I finally fitted my retro cable the weekend, some 2 months after fitting the mfsw

The connection under the cowl took all of 60 seconds - the light control wiring took a bit longer, more so as I had to cut the cable wrapping and then had a right mare attaching the two connectors as the wires were very taught.

Overall it shouldn't take more than 20 mins - just make sure you do it outside or have bright lighting to identify the wires

Ranski said it all MrGringo. The most tricky bit is connecting to the light unit as the cable is only just long enough to get there via the path of least distance. The two scotch locks def help though and overall the job shouldn't take you too long.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, do any of you guys still have the retro fit PDF that you could send me?

Thanks

Ash

Anyone got an up to date retrofit cable part number?

I have spent an hour looking at various part diagrams and I can't find it anywhere :(

I'm on about the cable which is two wires one end attaches to the back of the slip ring (I think this is what it's called) and the other attaches to the back on the headlight knob switch using scotch locks

Thanks

Ash

Just ordered one from my local stealer, looks as if the price has gone down a bit too.

I paid £8.00 Inc Vat whihc i thought was ok considering others have said it costs nearly £20.
