Hi all.......

I got a company to fit my MFSW today with the manual you guys provided on these forums.
problem i have now is that i got to have it coded, comes up with Cgi coding needed??
Anybody else had this problem?
Disconnected battery for hour before installation and once put onto car it comes up coding needed. Any way round this because i really dont fancy going to BMW for them to code it and charge me loads of money :(

Tried to have Wheel coded today but they said it cant be done and the wheel has no control module to talk to from the computer :(
Starting to regret getting it now :(
Hate to think how much a control module is gonna cost me!

The dealer is talking sh*te. The MFSW connect to the LCM (light switch) by a simple 2 core supplemental harness.

Do you have lights? Then the module is already fitted.

Fitted mine a while ago and it was just plug and play, no coding needed. Sorry I can;t help.

I got the wheel from a dealer as well and it was ordered for a 03 car but the customer decided not to bother so they wanted to get rid of it and so i got it.
Only had wheel and cables inside wheel itself which was for the controls and thats it.
No other cables came with wheel.
So i thought simple unplug cables from standard wheel and clip back on new wheel :(

So basically an 03 MFSW to go on a 05 car, should this work or not really?

Pics of the wheel i purchased:

Can anyone see any problems or anything missing?

It's all down to if you have the lead that runs from 2 pins on the rear of the hub mount to the LCM module. There is no real difference between wheels of various ages. You car should have the correct lead in place but without checking it's a guess.

I can send you a full install PDF if you PM me an email address

Hi ya mate

If its the PDF file that i reckon i have then its part (H) on the PDF parts page that is only thing missing from the wheel.
BUT.....
It says in instructions that this cable is not need from 09/03.......... My car is 05 so i didnt think i needed this cable and this is only part i not got with wheel!!!

OK - I'd already sent you the PDF by the time I read this post.
It should be there if oyu have the later car, but I guess you need to check. People make mods and changes to cars....
Looking a the wheel you have the correct plug which goes in the top RHS of the 3 mounting block sockets.
