£36 delivered - I think it looks pretty good. Looks and feels a lot more modern than the old hard smooth wheel.
The eagle eyed may spot that I managed to fit it back to front. Instructions not brilliantly clear. I took the wheel off and also the silver plastic trim parts thinking this would make it easier to fit. Had I left on the trim it would have been obvious which way was correct. Anyhoo still pretty pleased with my needle work.wheel cover.jpg
 
Plastic or leather ? I fitted a leather one almost 3 years ago now and it is wearing very well. Not quite as good as a Royals one but at the price...hey ! Think I only paid £23 or so at the time :thumbsup: It definitely fits better around the thumbgrips when it's not on back to front though :D 20191124_213028.jpg
 
Had one on my old wheel before getting a royals one. There isn't much difference in the thickness of them tbh. Great cheap mod and it looks and feels good. Good job 👍🏻

I spent a few days doing one as well, but I just couldn't get rid of some creases... so got a Royals one :rofl:
But definitely a good option :thumbsup: I prefer a thicker standard wheel (like this)... the M wheel was just didn't feel right for me
 
If you search on e-bay there are plenty and in the description somehwere it mentions Mewant. Mine is meant to be leather - certainly feels like it.
 
I have the fake leather version and it feels great and also looks great. Didn't want a leather one as I wanted to avoid the leather boot shine effect.
 
My biggest issue with these is that the seams don't sit flat - it ruins the look for me. :(

Under the factory leather covers, there are channels carved into the wheel rim so the seam allowance can sit in them. This keeps the surface of the wheel smooth where the seams are and is something that can't easily be replicated with this slipover covers.

I'm in agreement with the seems. You can see them more on the fake leather IMO? The picture of patriot66's wheel it's harder to see. I guess it also depends on how tight you pull the fabric as you're stitching it together. You can't see the seems at all on a Royals wheel :wink: :poke: lol

To the bolded, not really. If the seam allowance can't be tucked into the preformed channel in the wheel rim (because the factory cover is in the way, as is the case with these) then the allowance should be skived so it's incredibly thin - that way, when it's folded back on itself as the cover is fitted, it will be barely noticeable as it will be considerably thinner than the cover itself.

But that clearly doesn't happen with these when they're made and it's something that would annoy the life out of me. When I trim steering wheels, I either use the channels or skive the allowance. But I can understand that there's a marked difference between paying £30-odd for a Chinese cover or nigh on £200 for a bespoke retrim so.....
 
Couldn't justify cost of bespoke with what I've spent on car already - but perfectly happy with the way it looks and feels. You pays yer money - you make your choice :driving:

Really liking how yours had bedded in! I got mewant to do a custom one for my m wheel a few months back and despite a few creases I'm pretty happy! The bottom seams are different on the m wheel which they hadn't taken into account with the cover shape (my fault for not noticing) so that means creases form over the original wheel seams. Possibly one of the thickest z4 wheels out there but i like it! For the price can't go wrong either!

Not sure I understand the issue with the seam.
Mondo can you explain the issue from this close up pic? Or do you mean the seam where the sections are sewn together by machine?

The lumps either side of the join between the solid and perforated leather. They spoil it for me when it could have been easily avoided during manufacture.

The kit comes with a double sided tape that you fit to the steering wheel first.
