metallic black

Thanks to the sun eventually making an appearance, I was surprised to discover my zed is painted metallic black and not flat jet black as I had been thinking for last 7 weeks if ownership! How will I find out which specific black it is? My car is Nov 2005 55 plate if that helps.

Have a look on the o/s/f strut tower as it's normally on a sticker there - although it might be in German, so will say something ...'schwarz'.

Had a look on strut tower and theres no sticker. I remember someone saying there was a black that had bluey tinge to it. This paint doesn't really have blue flocks just looks like tiny silver flecks when very close up.

Call your local BMW dealer and give your registration. They should be able to tell you the official colour if there's no sticker on the strut tower.

Sounds like sapphire black then, as cosmos black has the blue tinge and ruby black has the red tinge.

You could always look on HEREto see if you can see it.

Sounds lke mine which is Saphire Black.
