metalic noise comming from brake drum

Arived home tonight and just as I drove into the drive I heard a terrible metalic sound , I thought I had driven over somthing ,further investigation confirmed its coming from the brake drum , Im thinking the spring has came loose , Ill strip the wheel tomorrow and investigate, anyone with any other ideas what the noise may be feel free to comment.
 
I had a similar noise in January when some stones got into the braking system. A quick few jerks in reverse got rid of them. Nit sure if it's the same though.
 
Good call Sean, there seems to a stone between the disk and back plate, when i push on the back plate no noise, however , I cant find my 7mm alan key to remove the caliper to inspect further , a trip to halfords I think ,,,,,,,,,the noise had me thinking it was something much more serious .
