Met a cool guy doing custom Z3 cars

So I was at the Scottsdale (Arizona) Cars and Coffee and met an awesome guy who does a custom kit for the Z3 that he calls the ZGT.

He takes a lot of the styling from the BMW Z8 and other models

I was going to help him make a documentary with installing the panels and possibly do a review or something fun. I just thought I'd share :D

I can see how that would be better received in the USA than in the UK. Looks like a combination of a Ferrari and a muscle car. Some parts look very well resolved but not all. Good effort though as I always thought the proportions on the Z3 were a little 'out'.

The nose looks clever and cool...the tail-end looks cool...and I admire his spirit in taking something like this on...but everything else in-between looks like an abortion gone wrong!

The use of those wheels is just mindless.

I think the Z4 would always be a better platform as a starting point too for a retro-look racer.

I intended to do one once (and shame on me I've never had the balls or opportunity to do it...so hats off to him) but events have over taken me and I've shelved the idea.

Something like this...but as a roadster...would have been worth the effort:

I could be kind and say "well done to him for following a dream, it's a good effort fella" blah blah. But it's not a good effort, it looks like what it is, a schoolboys doodle in the back of an exercise book which is where it should have stayed.

Maybe the builder could team up with Brad and do a new Marmite Z4

I think he's onto something...

It just needs a few adjustments.

Where the front wing just stops and the rear wing just start (I guess with an air intake kinda thing) If these panels were
swept into the door and out of the door instead of the square edges that would get the ball rolling.
The red arrows show where the panels need to be rolled into each other.

The red circle shows the nose it way too big. Bring it in a little like the Dino.

Curves not corners..First rule of good bodywork.

But all in all a good effort.

Not for me, but must have taken a huge amount of effort to create. It's great to see people still have the imagination to do this
BUT, like I said, not for me. It reminds me of one of their creations

It's an utter mess, although I'm sure a lot of time and effort has gone into it. Frankly just looks like fibreglass nose, rear and a few bits grafted on with no coherent flow or form

As for that grille grafted on. Looks like he found it in a parts bin and had to use it somewhere

Not for me at all

"He takes a lot of the styling from the BMW Z8 and other models"

... well I guess that statement explains everything! What a flipping mess! Don't they have Specsavers in Arizona?
