they are typically crashy over the rear, stock suspension sucks but duno how those coilovers compare. Does it have a strut brace?

If you wind them up you should get within 20mm of the oem height which should be fine for what your after?Mr Tidy said:jimmybell said:Congrats - sounds like with those alloys and the suspension already done it should be a lovely thing.

Thanks, it drives really well (less crashy over the rear than my 3.0Si) but I think it's just too low with the coil-overs - it grounded going over a speed bump on the way home!
I might try raising it as far as the coil-overs will go (about a half inch), but it also came with a full set of H & R lowering springs so I'll do some research on those as well because it's only ever going to be a road car.
And it does have a shiny chrome strut brace.![]()

Lowering springs are a bigger drop than that and it'll be crashy on the oem dampers too...

Definitely try max height first. Because the H&Rs are only height adjustable I imagine they will be stiffer than stock (to achieve a noticeable handling "improvement" straight out of the box). On the other hand, they have progressive springs, so won't be particularly hardcore either. They could be just fine - seem to get decent feedback on other forums.
If you end up thinking there's room for improvement in the ride, then it could well be worth selling all the H&R bits and reverting back to a decent OEM+ set up like a matched set of Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks. Switching back to 18s would also be a decent improvement too, of course.
You could always get them re-valved if they are too harsh at full height, probably the cheapest option tooMr Tidy said:RedUn said:If you wind them up you should get within 20mm of the oem height which should be fine for what your after?

Thanks, getting them fully extended is my 1st plan.
I'm assuming any lowered spring is generally going to be stiffer than OEM because it'll be shorter, and I'm not really bothered about getting it to sit low.
Longer term, in an ideal world I'd like to end up with better ride and handling than standard - but could live with a slight drop in height to achieve that.
Just need to work out what will give me that - any ideas would be welcome!![]()
Then I imagine I could sell both sets of H & Rs!
