Mercedes SL63 AMG

OK I suppose after the shoebox Toyota post I need to “clear my name” a bit, so I think this is my new favourite money-no-object car :sweetheart: It might be a large heavy beast, but it's definitely a hooligan car at heart :)

Mercedes SL63 AMG
Just weeks after releasing the freshened SL’s, Mercedes is finally prepared to unveil their AMG cousins. Powered by an AMG V8 that puts down 525hp and 630Nm of torque, the freshened SL 63 AMG should have no problems keeping up with its competitors given that it goes from 0 to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds. Debuting on the SL 63 is AMG’s newly developed SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, which ditches the conventional torque converters and replaces it with a wet compact start-up clutch. This allows for a direct connection to the powertrain, providing for an engaging driving experience. The Multi-Clutch Technology only employs the clutch elements to perform gearshifts and offers four drive modes, double-declutching and Race Start function.

Interesting that they've moved away from the F1-esque styling of the SLK... this one looks more "old skool"

Yep this seems to be the latest look for the time being. It sounds "old skool" too, if you haven't watched any of the vids in the 3rd one it sounds amazing....vroooooooooooooooooommmmmmmm :)

Man, I've always hated MB, but I'm started to come around! Definitely only the SL's or the C63 would be worth it though.

The ordinary SLs look really nice too now, apart from the headrests. The SLK has the Aircrarf with heaters built into the seats which is ducted through the seat and into a vent, but MB didn't want to redesign the seats in the SL to save money, so they incorporated all the heating elements into the headrest instead, but it makes them look a bit like ET's head, especially in beige coloured interior

Very nice indeed. Like the new styling. Agressive and butch but i i think i prefer the elegance of the old one.

That engine really is a gem though. My favourite "application" of it is in the CLK63 AMG Black Series!

The MB SL-class is an all-time classic car design but what they need to do is make the three-pointed star on the front grille bigger, you barely see it.

Might be interested in this article i came across. http://www.topgear.com/drives/C7/K6/roadtests/11/01.html

I like everything except for the ugly headlights.

I like everything about the car except the headlights, side gills, rims, rear lower lip, hood/bonnet lines, and the auto trans. :D

Just had to add, I saw this in the Merc showroom today and it's a complete beast in black, although the side gills are silver so I reckon it'll look best in silver. The interior is sumptuous, quality is amazing, and the drive is meant to be awesome too.

Worth it for £100k?
