Merc Dealer Experience

Took the SLK for a check over today to Merc in Shrewsbury and was very impressed with the customer service.
Bonus surprise when I got home was an email with a link to view a video taken by the technician of underneath the car and him reporting on his findings (all good) Very impressed and great to watch a video of the car.

Yep we had great service from Merc in Chesterfield recently, a recall on the steering wheel airbag, new courtesy car, service offers for next time etc etc. Not sure I'm remembering correctly but Merc had a really bad press a few years ago for shoddy dealerships, but I might have got that wrong. They've been good with us so far.

Stratstone BMW Chesterfield do it as well now (the video thing).

Yip, seems it's quite common these days. Easier way to point out any issues without customers saying are you sure.

Even ford dealers are doing it. Guy at work had a video sent to him of his ST having a once over before its service.

We are fortunate that our local MB dealer is MB World Brooklands, had excellent service when we had our CLS a few years ago and will hopefully get the same level of service when our C43 arrives in October.

Audi and VW both do the video as well, and in both cases I could not hear the audio properly as the volume was way too low

Vines as a dealer is in my reasonable books at the moment, the Audi is in the bottom pile, so is the VW service level. The Abarth is mid level, and so is the Porsche. I had hoped for the Porsche experience to be really nice but it did not live up to that.

Best coffee at the Porsche dealer though and there is a huge selection of soft drinks

Thats a great idea, one of the advantages of going to main dealer I guess. I can picture the face of my Indy if I asked for a vid of the underneath of the car on the next service

Audi do the video thing as well !
It's ok but would rather be shown the problem - but that's probably a health and safety thing

It is a health and safety issue , you can't go escorted into their garage and view a problem on a 4 post ramp with a fail safe lock but they will sell you a car with a spare tyre in the boot with a scissor Jack , otherwise called a widow maker , to enable you to change the wheel on the hard shoulder of a busy motorway
How could that possibly be more dangerous than a locked out 4 poster escorted by a qualified member of staff

Audi do indeed do the video thing... Pity it still took them 3 bloody visits to identify a faulty battery on a 8 month old car :x :!:

That's my local one too - 2 Smarts and now the A45 from them ... always excellent and long may it continue !

I've been ignored in Chester branch so went and bought a BMW , I was treat like a time waster in Liverpool and got the feeling the guy really couldn't be arsed with me when I was ready to order a car , so I gave Chester another chance and they were great and I ordered a car , depends on which sales or service person you get I guess

And then they fail at the last hurdle , new slc confirmed for collection end of July , just I time for my ring , Dordogne San Sebastián trip , that should run it in nicely I'm thinking , then they ring my missus the next day and put it back until mid August , no explanation on why it's changed to almost 3 weeks later overnight
At least she can take delivery of it on the newer plate in September . I shouldn't complain about having to take a 340i but it would have been nice to use a little convertible around the roads of Europe for 5 weeks :driving:

To be fair a dealer can't control factory delivery times... They can only work with what they're told.

I know , it's just they told me one day then changed their minds overnight , a bit like bullseye , look what you could've won
I'm not that bothered as I've got work to do down there so at least I can take a few tools with me now .
