Hi guys- just having a play with my new car :) but found my first problem :( the menu button on my radio/nav does not do anything is that a common fault on these? Cheers

Does anyone know if this will be repairable- or will I need another unit? It's a 2003 with navigation screen

Remove the head unit, then remove the fascia plate & buttons, spray the circuit board with electrical lubricant, refit and I bet it works! A mate of mine had the entire right side buttons not working, I did the repair and it worked, there was lots of corrosion on the circuit board!

Worth a go.... If you local to Brighton I can have a go for you!

Cheers guys- when I went to look at it I just saw the radio was actually working and the screen was up so didn't think of trying all the buttons, I will give that a go and see what happens- it's just annoying because obviously the menu button is where I need to set it up :)

Thanks for the reply terryvision :) what is actually involved in removing the facia and buttons? Cheers

Torq star bit (can't remember size, but it's small) and a steady hand... Actually it's very easy, once you get the head unit out your see the screws but remember don't pull the front off to frantically until you have disconnected the ribbon cable that's attached to the fascia.

Just take your time... :)

Just found the post: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15931

Thanks so much terryvision- I removed the stereo and facia and found the button on the circuit board corroded but the gold ring round it burnt out :( Any idea if this can be repaired? I've cleaned it all up for still no luck- so assume the gold is the contact point
