Memory Seat Surround Removal

The bit of plastic that surrounds the memory seat controls is creaking and driving me nuts.

I’m looking to remove this plastic surround and see if I can get it to stop creaking but I can’t find a guide. I can see loads of guides of how to remove the whole seat but I just want to remove the black plastic bit.

I will probably just have a crack at it over the weekend but I usually break things when I don’t follow a guide.

Or even better if anyone has got any ideas of how I can stop the creaking without removing it?

As the seats look like the E46 memory seats I'm going to give it a try using this guide.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who can't stand rattles ;)

thanks for sharing mate.... thats a great write up.
Was thinking of replacing seats anyway and this has made me think.. "Yes, go and do that, its easy" :driving:

I can't take any credit for that writeup ;)

Looks fairly straightforward apart from the torquing of the seatbelt bolts. Which might be easy but I don't have the tools to do it.

I gave it a go today in between the showers but I just couldn't get it off.

I think it needed a bit more force (or technical ability) but I didn't want to give it any more. I can get the section on the left pretty much free as its just a screw but it's the rest I'm struggling with.

I gave the seat a good clean with Megs Gold Class to see if conditioning the leather would make it better but it's made it worse :( not sure what to try now? I really don't want to take the seat out as I don't have a drive, garage or tools to do it.
