Any FHE and/or recommendation?

04, E85, 3.0

Bought a new battery and looking at those 9 volt memory savers. Some plug into the cigarette lighter outlet and others into the OBD2 port. They range in price from a couple dollars USD to over $30.

Also I have read here before that my model year does not need any special treatment or coding etc for a battery swap...Correct?

Thanks

Thank you. I must admit I thought I'd lose my radio pre-sets...I did not. Plus the auto down windows are still one touch. I did lose my tripometer miles and my average speed reading and of course I had to set the clock. No big deal on any of those.

One strange thing, not really about the car but about the battery I took out. The little label on the battery where the installer punches out the month and the year the battery was installed was punched as Jan - 04 ! It is not a BMW battery but a NAPA brand ... The car is an 04. That just doesn't make any sense. If the battery was original I would assume it would be a BMW battery or some big name (my FJ Cruiser had a Panasonic battery from the factory...not some parts store battery such as NAPA). I don't expect an explanation but I just thought it very strange...If it really was a 16 year old battery...Wow, I should have replaced it with another NAPA battery !

I don't think BMW ever made batteries, but my 2006 E86 needed a new one after 10 years and my Indy fitted an Exide which is what he said he took out! Which makes sense seeing as it was built in Spartanberg.

I still speak to Mrs Tidy from time to time and her 2006 Mini Cooper finally needed a new battery at the end of 2019, but it may have lasted longer if she had been using it more although two hip replacements meant it sat around a lot!
