This is just along the road from my office and, as you walk through the sunlight reflected by the walkie-talkie, the temperature jumps - it suddenly feels like you're in Greece in the middle of summer - then, as you walk back into 'normal' sunlight it feels relatively chilly

I've just been out to buy a sandwich for lunch and there's a BBC Outside Broadcast unit there with about 4 camera crews a couple of interviewers and a complete prat with a frying pan standing in the road trying to fry an egg...

Think it's more to do with the shape of the building reflecting the light and concentrating it to a smaller area. A bit like getting a magnifying glass on an ant.

Yes, that was the pratt... and interviewing people in the middle of the road inches from the traffic... eeeejit!


When I walked past the shops/parking bays this morning, scaffolders were putting up a scaffold screen with dark mesh to protect the shops from the 'death ray'

I've just been outside to have a look and there are additional OB vans and more camera crews around so it looks like this story is going to fascinate the media for a few days...
