Well after all the help from you nice peeps, I ordered my z4 s20iM sport in Melbourne red, with walnut leather.
Added options are automatic/cruise/electric heat-fold mirrors/through storage and lumbar support.
As it won't be ready until approx late Sept/early Oct, I've also ordered a set of winter wheels and tyres (you can't trust our weather !!
Now the wait starts

Great choice, iv being waiting since end of june, had an update todat to say it will be at the dalers wk commencing 26th Aug. will be picking up 2nd sept.

Ill not lie, its a long and hard wait, but im sure it will he worth it. However looks like we've both missed the nice weather. Lol
;)

Iv not gone for winter tyres myself, this will be my 6th BMW and never bothered with or had an issue with snow. Trick is to know what you can or can not do. Iv being told that the Zed is one of the better BMW's in snow, I don't know wether any current owners can confirm this or not?!

That's why I've bought them...£50/year for BMW to swap and store them.
As for the wait, a doddle compared to my present TT...virtually 6 months to the day Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Krikey, I orderd my TT Jan this year and arrived beginning of march, barely 6 weeks.

6 months though, that was a long wait!

£50 sounds amazingly good value, what dealership group have you got this deal from? Is that winter wheels/tyres/storage for £50?

Er....no. I think he just means £50 for the dealer to change the wheels and for the dealer to store them.

lol, oh right! ;)

In that case not such an enticing offer. I could do that myself and keep them In my garage for nowt .

I went Walnut and Deap Sea Blue this combo was second choice. Did you change the trim from the stock Aluminium? The finewood trim works really well with Walnut.....

Sketchley, I just stuck with the standard trim...I've found wood trim scratches too easily

Just check the £50, I think its only for the 1st year/ change.

The mel red is the best Been looking for a red zd since the 1st and its just fantastic but will show scratches easy

I use a couple of grit bags for ballast and a spade. I live in Derby and commute to Matlock so touch the peaks, I can only go the flat A6 route and Im lucky that the main bus route is near to my road. Its done me well for the past 10 years in the zds.

However it is still very very nerving driving in the snow, wide tyres, high power, light = sledge. you stop on snow on any slight climb and your stuck. my drive has a slight rise and I need to clean it of snow and grit before the zd will even think of going up backwards or forwards. So I pull up outside the house clean the drive then hope the car will roll backwards (main road has a slight rise which I never attempt to go up, so have to go down the hill to pick up the bus route which is gritted), or it gets stuck needing gritting the wheels to get some grip. last time once I got a bit of grip it would not turn up the drive but started to slip down the road nearly slipping into the neighbours car who had dumped it on the main road.

winter tyres also need changing if the temp goes above a certain temp. still having the smaller rims and rubber will be cheaper if you slip and hit the wheels keeping you proper rims nice and protected at bmw. The winter set costs £1000? Im looking at socks to get out when stuck.

Hi Jaz4...not bothered about scratches on the paintwork, one of my hobbies is car detailing, got all the good machines and waxes/polishes
I live in rural Northumberland, that's why I've gone for the winter stuff.also, doing it this way, my tyres will last twice as long :D
