Meguiars water magnets

Have a problem with a few water magnet towels that I washed and are now garbage.
Are these not supposed to be washed or is it because I washed them along with my polishing cloths?
Not sure what to do with them other than bin them as all they do now is move the water around rather than soak it up.
Not a first world problem but any advice on how to rescue them would be appreciated.

Stupid question, but you didn't use washing powder with softener in it, or use softener as well as washing powder ? Softener works by coating the fibres, which makes them resistant to water. I never put softener in when I wash my microfibre cloths... Same with bath towels :D

If you did use softener then try washing them again just with detergent.

I didnt use softener but did use these washing sheet things that were lying around and these may have had softener in them.
I think I might try boiling water and washing a few more times just with water.

They might have done it. Boiling water probably won't help, just use some plain detergent — powder is best I find.

That's the stuff I've been using for years. Separate your cloths into different washes. For heavy soiled ones.

Or even better, rinse the car after shampooing with rain water and drip dry. No spots, and fine for normal washing, unless prepping to polish / wax. Saves time too!

Washed a couple of times with Daz powder and they are almost as good as new.
Maybe another wash and they will be back to normal.
