Meguiars Ceramic Wax

Gave this a first try this weekend, and got to say it’s an absolute bargain of a product. It’s a bit of pain to get the base coat done and 100% streak free, but when fully cured it provides a level of gloss that no other wax I’ve used before can offer.

I don’t think it provides the metallic pop and colour depth of a good wax, but for sheer levels of new car mirror gloss then it’s an amazing product for £14 at Halfords.
 
i got some recently, as was advised to use as a top up too maintain the finish after the recent ceramic coating.
not used it yet as not felt its needed yet.
 
I didn't bother with the base coating, just applied a bit more when the car was wet and waited a longer time for it to settle. It has certainly worked well and I love the product. Beading has been amazing. Worked amazingly well on the wheels as well, they're a lot less dusty than usual.

That's the one. Watch the video from Meguiars UK YouTube channel on this product. What they show in the video is exactly what I experienced, expect I didn't bother with a base coating, so much quicker application.

Almost bought it at the weekend, but reviews seem mixed as I quickly googled it in the shop. Some folk buffed it on\off, others just sprayed it on and hosed off as per the instructions but with mixed results.
 
I've heard very mixed results with the Megs stuff
Similar product I bought PS beadmaker , a toddler could apply it :roll: simple wipe on - wipe off & it does what it says
Perfect for final touch after a wash even if the paint is still damp & leaves a glasslike smear free finish.
I don't think any of these spray ons should be thought of as high end final finish products like a carnauba wax , more like quick detailer with a extra touch
 
As Mr Wilks says it seems to get very mixed reviews and at the reduced price of £14 for 768ml it's still not exactly what I'd call a bargain.
For the past 18 months I've been applying Soft99 Fusso Coat Dark wax every 3 months or so and then using Sonax BSD as a LSP/Detailer every time I wash the car.sonax-brilliant-shine-5-litre.jpg
I just mist it on one damp panel at a time then work it/buff with a drying towel. Never had any problems, great gloss and insane beading. My photos:

That equates to £7.60 per litre which IS a bargain ! A 5 litre container will last a LONG time so for me that's some serious bang for your bucks :thumbsup:
 
There’s a lot of independent testing on this now, and it comes way above bead maker for longevity. From what I can tell it’ll last a good 4/5 washes before it even starts to fade away...which I think is pretty good compared to most other product. Check out forensic detailing video on the group test to see how it performed.

I use the beadmaker simply as a final wipeover product before i garage the car after washing , applied with a soft cloth it leaves a flawless finish on a almost dry car with great ease , i don't for a minute expect any longevity , for that like Patriot its Kiwami fusso https://www.amazon.co.uk/Soft99-Fusso-Coat-Dark-200g/dp/B07BCR3S3J/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?keywords=kiwami+fusso&qid=1565642723&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmr0 which i apply over Chem guys butter wet wax or 50cal glaze
 
From what I’ve seen, the bad reviews are from people who aren’t doing it right. As long as you follow the instructions properly it is easy to use, easy to buff off and lasts well. If you try using it like a wax and put it on dry paint then you are going to have a tough time trying to buff it off.

To be fair though they do market it up as a easy to use "quick detail" kind of product :wink:

That’s pretty much all any wax is though isn’t it? You do all the real work with cleaners, clay bars, polished etc. The wax is just the final finishing coat.

Yea I see that but saying folks aren't "doing it right " when prepping & applying it? If it's as easy as using a quick detailer (like Megs suggest) then how are folks getting it wrong?
To me a qd should be exactly that, wipe it on, wipe it off, take 3 steps back them smile :)
 
I don’t know but if they are finding it difficult they are doing it wrong. It really is simple. Spray it on wet bodywork. Dry it off, which buffs it up at the same time. Maybe they are trying to put it on too thick or on dry or something.

I've not tried it so can't say but the wet application you describe is the same as the " PS beadmaker" but that also goes on dry paint too.

thats the way my detailer advised to do it.
spray on to wet panel and wipe down with micofibre towel.
 
And with Autoglym EGP it’s rubbish if there is any water when you put it on. Different products. Different methods.
 
I washed & waxed the car yesterday so of course this morning I woke up to rain. So I took advantage of that and went out to spray Megs Ceramic Wax over the car and let the rain do the job of spreading it. When the rain stopped a just gave it a quick rinse and dried it off. Job done. This evening rain shows it’s done a decent job :thumbsup:

So I finally got round to trying this today (on Deb's car!!!)

Washed car and rinsed. Sprayed this on, its quite thick and bluish in colour. Tried using drying towel but I think the panels were too dry and it was difficult to pull the towel around, so lightly sprayed some water on car and then took a microfibre and wiped it all over the panels, followed by drying towel and it seemed fine, nice gloss. Due to rain tonight so will see.

If its ok, I'll do it on mine tomorrow :)
