Megane 3 RS calipers

if you dont mind me asking was the kit plug and play and how much did it set you back, 4 pots ?
They are 6 pot. I think around £2.3k or so but that was with 2 pairs of pads, 2 pairs of discs and 3 sets of bobbins. Bolted right up. The big win with this stuff is that you are using ex BTCC pads and discs (they are obliged to be thrown away after every race meeting by each team) and they are then sold on. So £100 for a set of used once AP discs that retail about £900, and £80 or so for project mu pads that retail well over £300.

Any more info on this / where do I buy em :)

Let me rephrase my question - Is there a decent upgrade that doesn't require spacers?

-----------------------------

Anybody tried the Megane 3 RS Brembo-calipers?
Seems like great value and also very near OEM bias. Brackets readily available too.

My biggest concern is if they foul the oem wheels without spacers, like the 996-calipers…?

Any more details on this fitnent kit too?

Iv just fitted Brembo 4 pots to my 2.5i ordered the kit from K system, pads from EBC and brembo drilled discs from auto doc about £800.00 all in with discounts I think. Bolted straight on but my wheels aren't standard so I didn't need spacers, dead easy to fit and they look great. One of the main difference is pedal feel is so much better as well as braking performance

https://k-system.pro/en/product/bmw-brembo-4-pot-conversion-kit-clio-3-rs-calipers/ these are actually off the Clio 3 RS but I think the piston diameter is the same (someone please correct me if im wrong) so probably a similar comparison.

Looks lovely. Unfortunately not for M sized brakes.

Oops wrong link think this is for the M? https://k-system.pro/en/product/bmwe46m3_345x28_csl_z4m/

I bit the bullet & ordered new Megane RS calipers from MisterAuto (160€ each) and then the brackets/lines (£220) from FreakyParts.

Seems they are a tight fit behind the OEM wheels (w track tires) so might need 3mm spacers front, no spacers w CSL rims.

Looking forward to seeing a few pics! Considering these as well for my Si; combination of performance upgrade and wheel-bling (let’s be honest about that).

Regarding the K-systems kit available; I see they do a Megane RS and a Clio RS version, but for the life of me I can’t figure out the difference between the two…

Clio RS: https://k-system.pro/en/product/bmw-brembo-4-pot-conversion-kit-clio-3-rs-calipers/

I suspect its the size of the caliper?
In my case the choice was easy, the M has the 345mm discs - so its the Megane kit.
Agree on the bling bit it's the exciting part "right, what color, what badging.." :D
I'm leaning towards OEM silver with OEMish black little M badge.

Edit: got them today - they’re huge, and light! 2.7kg each. :)

It doesn't help they are called Clio vs Megane RS calipers.

The "Megane RS" ones are the type fitted to the RenaultSport Megane Mk3 (e.g. the 2010-2016 250/265 etc models).

The "Clio RS" ones are the type fitted to the RenaultSport Megane Mk2 (e.g. the 2004-2009 225/R26 etc models). They are also fitted to lots of other cars - the Corsa VXR Nürburgring for example.

If you lookup using those terms (i.e. Megane R26 vs 250 caliper) you'll probably find waaaay more info. The Mk3 calipers are used with larger discs than the Mk2 and some people upgrade to those to use larger discs on the Mk2 Megane for serious track use (although in the kit you've linked, the discs are the same for both). I think the pistons are the same size though. I'd guess the real difference will be pad availability.

My old Megane Mk2...

The pistons are the same size between the two linked above (Clio and Megane). The only difference is the caliper body size itself. This does mean that the pad size between the two is different:

  • Clio accepts max pad size: 125 x 71(52) x 16mm
  • Megane accepts max pad size: 132 x 77(62) x 16mm

Bear in mind the 16mm thickness is based on discs chosen, 28mm thick discs may only allow 15mm.
