Media streaming

I ordered one of these the other day:

Anyway, to cut a long story short the customer service sucks (just check their forums!). I am looking to get a replacement and was toying with the idea of XBMC but am just not sure what hardware (small, low power consumption etc) to get. I wont need a HDD in there as I will stream it all down the network.

Anyone got good recommendations of something not too expensive that will be nippy enough to stream 1080p without too much bother?

avoid the pinnacle option (forget the name).
I had that for about a month and it never worked properly once... and customer support is shocking also.

I still have a classic xbox running XBMC and it's brilliant, however, I also purchased the D-Link DSM-520 for just over £100 a few months back and think it's the best "over the counter" hd streamers availalbe.

You can plug in a usb hdd in the front and it'll allow you to play stuff striaght of that.
It supports mpeg 1, 2,4, mpeg 4 AVI, xVid, DivX, DivX-HD. Windows Media Video & Windows Media Video HD.
It also supports playing VOB files directly.
It also plays wav,mp3 and ogg files (no iTunes AAC support yet tho, but does support windows DRM enabled files)

it outputs natively at 1080 or 720, which is configurable within the system setup.

The only downside is no cd/dvd/blu-ray drive built in.

and for power consumption, it's rated at 10watts.

I have just bought one of these :

Going to run XBMC on it... hopefully it will work. Should get it tomorrow so I guess I will find out :)
