Hi, just got my Z4 and enjoying driving in the sun with roof down. Although I will try to do the easy jobs myself there will be ones I can’t do. Does anyone recommend a good Z4 place to get things fixed?

Hopefully someone local will have a recommendation.

But if not here is a list of BMW specialists from another website, albeit not specifically Z4s:- https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=72&t=796191

Thank you Mr Tidy, in my younger days when single and living with parents I had lots of free time and spent hours taking bits off cars and repairing them. Alas not enough time to breathe now and can’t seem to buy a Haynes Manuel in good old book form. Thank god we have this forum with lots of good tutorials.

A bit of a drive but I use Paddock motors on the Sidmouth Road near Exeter.
Plenty of knowledge, great pricing and loads of cracking Beemers to look at.

Does anyone know what Mornington Motors, Newton Abbot are like? They say that they are BMW specialists. They’re on the Decoy Industrial Estate.

Many garages say that; seems so they can pick up google searches (I have a garage near me that say on their website they are EVERYTHING specialists  ). I would speak to them and ask if they any ex-BMW mechanics who work there. Also what diagnostic software they have?

Obviously you have Westerly BMW in Paignton and Exeter, but I also go to Paddock mentioned earlier for anything non warranty. You can get a courtesy car (although they charge for it). South & East Devon is pretty devoid of independent BMW specialists I'm afraid.

I feel a bit bad really as the nice chap who’s been doing our cars for a while is really honest and reliable but he is just a general mechanic and feel that the Zed needs a BMW guy. Looks like trips to Exeter then. :headbang:

I guess it depends what you are needing doing. if you need specialist help with error codes/roof issues etc, having someone who knows the common faults and how to fix them is worthwhile. Dont expect Paddock to be massively cheaper than the stealers though! I've found Westerly Exeter to be particularly poor for getting a car booked in - sometimes its a month before they have availability, and I'm fortunate that I'm on the border near Somerset and I can get the car into Bridgwater in a couple of days. Good luck!
