Tried a few industrial type shots last night. I like them, but critique please (i.e. helpful technical guidance......)

Bit TOO dark mate, maybe ? First and second ones are, for me anyway..............don`t think my monitor needs adusting ! :lol:

As I said in your last thread though, petach, keep `em coming mate; always interested to see what you`ve done :thumbsup:
 
Ok, the first one I don't like the rear wheel, just seems out of proportion. Like the lighting.

Second one I like.

Third one over exposed for my liking.

Fourth I like, nice.

Fifth not too keen.
 
Beyond my skill set, but I do like them :thumbsup: (except the first that's a bit too dark).

Hey but what do I know - I just about do unusual angle grassy bank shots :)
 
I like the train one too. But I can't seem to get the exposure right to see that it is a train, not just a streak of light. I thought of flash to freeze movement a bit (express trains are at about 70-80mph coming through) , but in this day and age of hyper security I don't want to aggravate train drivers etc.
 
You need a much longer exposure for the first ones. You will simnply not be able to freeze a train at that speed at night, even with the best lens. MAYBE if you had a £4k camera with a 1.2 lens and used the maz ISO setting etc.
 
I quite like them but I think the first two are a little too dark. The fourth one is my favourite.

Why would you want to freeze the train? That would ruin the pic! :?

Looks good. Nothing there that can't be fixed with a little tone mapping and photoshop! :wink: Were they taken in RAW or jpg?
 
Cheers for comment all. I didn't want to completely freeze the train, just enough to see a small bit of detail.

Tone mapping? Blimey, small steps, small steps til I build up to that one I think.

I am going to mess about a bit with the train one to see if I can improve it somewhat.

The effect I was after on the cars was a lit up edge with very dark remainder, so you can see what it is without really seeing the whole car (if you get my drift)

My trouble is, I want to run before I walk. Not a bad way to be at nearly 56. I am way ahead of youngsters in my office regarding use of IT (probably cuz they have a life?)
 
I think they are all rubbish!

Just make sure you don't enter them in the monthly competition!

I've got to do something to stand a chance. :rofl: :rofl:
 
Malc....you just made my day! I came 2nd with a shot in Sept, and to be honest it really surprised me. The one that I thought stood a good chance came nowhere, nada, zilch, nuffink.

I think it's just a matter of time Mr Petach, :D I'm confident you will soon enough be the monthly photo comp winner, you seem to be learning at a rate of knots, far ahead of what I could even dream of attaining with a camera : :happyclap:

Images are great, mostly agree with the others that the first few are a little too dark and the train one is superb. You'll be winning competitions soon enough I reckon :thumbsup:
 
1 and 5 are lovely. Agree with earlier comment about darkness. If you're using Photoshop try experimenting with slight adjustments on the curves or levels.
