McDonalds or Burger King?

Do not mention Wetherspoons..my brother who lives in San Francisco is always dragging me into Wetherspoons pubs as soon as he lands when he has his annual visit. It reminds him of his student days and he loves it. I don't.

The poor lad has been waiting all year for a decent pint! When I was in San Francisco, micro breweries were getting quite popular over there.

Neither. If it's fast food then it has to be proper fish and chips every time. (with brown sauce of course)

I reckon eating at burger outlets is akin to eating sh*t but then as the old saying goes I guess 50 billion flies can't be wrong!

As regards Wetherspoons ate there just the once in Broad Steet Birmingham as it was near to Xmas only because all the decent restaurants were full and we hadn't booked. (off to a gig afterwards)

Wife had to send her "fish" (fish finger shaped like a fish) back as it was cold in the middle. Obviously the bloke with the black and white trousers hadn't pinged it in the Microwave for long enough after taking it out of the freezer.

The meat content, such that it was, of my Rogan Josh could best be described as chewy as was the poppodam and rice.

That said the beer in the one at Stratford Upon Avon is quite acceptable but the customers look like they have escaped from Walmart.

You want to try proper fish and chips with curry sauce. It may sound a bad combination but I like it

Some Wetherspoons are crap, but if you find a good one that takes pride in keeping their ales in top condition you can't go far wrong.I think they will be having a beer festival soon as well.

Avoid all fast food restaurants if at all possible, only one I'd consider is Chick-fil-a.

I gotta question then... what do people think about Frankie and Benny's?

My daughter is called Francesca and her BF is called Benjamin - guess where we frequent when they are in town? Not the worst place I've been to - maybe for a quick bite before/after a movie or somewhere to take the kids.

In answer to the original question - McD's for 'Dinner' and BK for 'Tea'

Seriously, my favourite fast food is 'Spud U Like'.......

we visit or grandchildren regularly in London - after a ferry/train journey lasting a couple of hours we arrive at Waterloo - first stop for me is BK for a whopper meal - goes down a treat - even though my wife disapproves ! Someone mationed Frankie and Bennys - we've taken the whole tribe there several times - not bad .

McDonalds Double Sausage & Egg McMuffin Meal before 10.30

BigMac.

BK Chicken Royale with Cheese.

Wow....btw, that's not you in the avatar :?

Actually it is! Its an old photo though, I look slim in that one!

KFC is ok, but I fail to see how they can be fast food, cos when they run out of chicken the queues are horrendous.

Pizza Express....nice, but leave me hungry! Dominoes or Pizza hut for me (although the service in the Barnstaple Pizza hut is appauling, every other one I've been in has been fine, but ours is crap!).

Subway...not bad when you cant decide.

Nearest Burger King to me is a 40mile drive away :(

Much prefer subway out of all the "fast food" type chains/franchises.

I used to like the McDs thick shakes. That is until I went to Florida this year and had some there. Wow - don't even come close to being the same. Topped with cream and a cherry, the thick shakes in America were a meal in themselves.

+1

And the strawberry shakes have actual bits of strawberry in them.

We get such a poor deal in this country....

I agree but have you tried the shakes in the OK Diners in this country? Omg, heaven in a tall glass!

Look at the calorific content of BK and McDonalds. You might not be so keen on one then. For example a Whopper with fries ranges from about 900 to 1600 calories with your whole days intake of fat. Tot up a Big Mac, large fries and shake....it's no wonder so many children are obese.

The best thing the government could do is force ALL restaurants to provide full nutritional data on the menu.

I think McDonals already do, and you are right, the figures are terrible.

Naughty...but nice!

And yet some of the fast food burgers contain less calories than sandwichs and salads you can get in supermarkets and coffee shops!

Not tried but will definitely keep an eye out for them. Off the top of my head, I can't recall that we have a local one. Thanks for the tip off.
