Mcar suspension same as Si sport ?

maybe a daft question but my 3.0 SI sport has the M sport suspension , , , ,would this be the same as on genuine Z4M cars ?
ie ride height & stiffness ?

just looking forward to getting my M wheels hopefully at the weekend & got me thinking if the ride heights are the same ? i know the rear offset gives a more wider stance but that is all good :)
no wish to go any lower though as happy where my zed is now :wink:
 
The M's also have taller profile tires too... so if getting wheels make sure you fit the correct size tires.

M's: 225/45/18, 255/40/18
non M 225/40/18, 225/35/18

going to fit my bridgestone RF's as standard non M spec so should be sweet :)
 
You can fit non run flats to wheels that originally came with run flats, but from what I've heard you shouldn't fit run flats to wheels that weren't designed for them.

I believe the rims need to be made to cope with the stiffer runflat sidewalls and shaped keep the tyre in place when running with no air in it.

I'm sure one of the Z4M guys will be along to confirm, but you need to have wheels designed for RFT's, they have a lip apparently, which the M wheels don't, so you can't fit them to it.

or you can but cannot rely on the tyre working as a runflat ? ?
 
I'm sure they can be fitted but as you said the tyre might come of if driven on a flat.

Buy some vreds or Falkens and sell the RFTs, and enjoy the ride it make a hell of a difference. :thumbsup:
 
have had the F452's on a car & no complaints but never had issue with runflats on this or previous cars . find the bridgestones great in wet & dry + wear really well .
plus all 4 are practically as new :x
beginning to think i should just stick with what i got :?

Nope, they just got sensible and ditched the rubbish run flats... BTW, if your coupe is a Sport - which I think it is - with MV2s, the tyres are staggered, so the front are 225 wide, but the rears are 255 wide (might be a typo above), just like the ///M setup. I think consensus is that on a non-M you should fit the non-M tyre profiles - so 40 on the front and 35 on the rear. Prevents rubbing on full lock at the front, and also keeps the rolling radius (and hence the speedo) correct.

I did quite a lot of reading on run flats vs non-run flats, and in amongst all of the gubbins I found there was one constant - you should never fit run flat tyres to cars (doesn't apply to the Z) or wheels not designed for them. Partly because as said, I guess if you get a puncture the tyre can come off, but I don't know if they would even physically fit as the lip on run flat rims that holds the tyre in is wider to cope with the thickness of the tyre wall - not sure you could lever a run flat under a standard lip ?
 
thanks for all info . much appreciated & will be keeping the non RF tyres on the M wheels ,
seller has said they are fitted with 6mm vreds -255/35/18 rears & 7mm maxiss 225/40/18 fronts so they are the same profiles as non M cars .
may just swap the fronts for matching vreds :) & get them all filled with gunk , , can't be faffed with the compressor caper 8)
