///MC - Eibachs & 224's and Custom Geometry

Afternoon All,

Yesterday I popped down to Munich Legends, with whom I was very impressed, to have my EIbach Pro Kit springs fitted as well as getting the geometry set-up.

Firstly Eibachs:

I love the new stance, that bit more aggressive, allowing the wheels to fill the arches nicely. The ride is also much nicer than on the OEM springs, much less body pitch under acceleration / braking. The ride doesn't feel any harsher than before. All-in-all I'm chuffed with the results. Here are some pics:

Bottom = Before

A subtle change, but a good one in my eyes :D

As for Geometry, I was given a crash course (very kindly by Exdos) and took his recommendation to go with the following settings:

Front:
Camber - -1.5deg
Toe-in - 0.00

Rear:
Camber - -1.0deg
Toe-in - 0.02 (ea)

However, I was a bit shocked by the settings on the car. Before any work was carried out these were the settings:

I was surprised by the amount of toe on all four wheels.

Anyway, ML recommended minimising the toe, but possibly not going as far as my original request in case the handling was too aggressive given my previous settings. Anyway I ended up with:

Front:
Camber - -1.5deg
Toe-in - 0.10 (ea)

Rear:
Camber - -1.0deg
Toe-in - 0.10 (ea)

As such, whilst the toe isn't as aggressive as I had decided to go with, there has been a significant reduction from what I was previously used to. I took it for a test spin before signing off with ML and was very impressed. Turn in was much sharper and the car didnt feel skitty, or tramline at all in a straight line. I'm going to stick with these settings for a while, get used to the new handling characteristics. I'll be looking to further reduce the toe ready for the summer driving season.

Overall I paid £258.

2 hours labour @£69/ hour for the springs to be fitted (£138) and £120 for the 4 wheel alignment.

Watch this space for CSLs and Aero skirts in due course.

Looks good mate.

How much including parts did the modification cost? Any additional Maintenace required with this setup?

Cheers Rob.

I've read a few posts that the lower springs can lower the life of the OEM dampers, although many people run these springs with no other mods and I haven't seen any "Eibachs ruined my car" posts.

I bought these springs second hand (from forum member Jamiez) for £90, however they are ~£200 brand new.

All-in if I'd have paid £200 for the springs, the fitting was £138, so £338 (say £350) is probably what you'd be looking at.

As for any specific maintenance I don't think there'd be any additional maintenance as a result of these springs. They lower by 20mm at the front and 10mm at the rear so not huge amounts.

Cool!

Might get legends to do my springs in the summer, they have some awesome cars there too

They certainly do, I had a fair few hours drooling over the 1M's, E9 3.0 CSL, E30 M3's, M1 ZMC.

Makes me want to become very rich so that I can buy them all, haha.

Love the red E30 EVO .... Awesome car So want this :driving:

Legends reputation is a bit hit an miss. Did you do any research before hand and how did you find them?

I think their previous owners now run a business just north of Heathfield and a lot of the negative feedback was about them.

Would be nice to use them being local, but this reputation plays on my mind

I don't know anything about the previous owners, but speaking to Dan and Stu at legends gives me confidence in them. Really enthusiastic and knowledgeable guys. Straight talking (which I think is worth its weight in gold) and I'll always trust Indies over stealers.

I spoke to a few people that had used them (albeit none who have posted about them on this forum) and decided to give them a go with fitting springs to gauge whether to use them in future.

Like I said, I am very happy with the service I received and I will definitely be using them in future.

Looks great Steven, much better profile to the car. I must have mine done in the coming months - the standard ride height even with m sport springs is too high 8)

I might pop in and see them on the way home from work one day. Inspection two is next for me, be worth getting a price.

x2, exactly the same for me (although still a year away)

Looking great mate!! Did they clean up well?

Yeh, bit of degreaser did the job nicely. No cracks as far as I could see and nothing mentioned by ML. Just a better stance, no body roll and better turn in

I know this is an old post but did you end up changing this setup?

I'm fitting Eibach springs & RTAB limiters with everything else OEM.
Would you recommend this geo or the setup Exdos suggested?

Had my Eibachs fitted yesterday and the difference in look is very subtle but a definite improvement. Ride feels OEM to me but haven't had a proper drive yet and won't until tomorrow. Interesting info about the geo set up.

I will let them settle for a couple of weeks and then I will go for this I think and see how it feels.
