I'd stick to the factory's 18". Even though 19" make the car more impressive, I don't think it is really necessary... The Z4M factory set up (alloy size, tire sidewalls and width) is for me the best choice!

Completely agree with this tbh.

Wish i never got 19's. The ride is very hard. Got my standard 18's on at the moment and while it's not Bentley comfortable, it's by no means terrible.

So bigger wheels are better but harsher ride? Earlier it was ok to have 17s if you're out on track?! You'll be telling me to get an iphone next

I have a Sony Z1, so not sure why i'd ensorse an iPhone.

You're obviously very upset, hence this thread.

You can always ignore what people say and just do your own thing you know

I think your new black wheels looked great this morning Dan. Nothing wrong with those in the flesh mate....
Now we can focus on badgering you in to replacing that grey roof with a black one to match :fuelfire:

And then you walk away from your car when it's on 19" with a big grin because it's sitting so much better than on 18".

:poke:

Thats because it's a known fact that 18''/19'' are optimum sizes on Z4's. Any less and they look like bottle tops. Any larger and they look like tonka toys.
Less side wall harsh ride think I'll stick with my bottle caps or "steelies"

Theres a reason why sports/supercars have low profile tyres.

The size of a dry front Formula One tyre is 270/55 R13, whilst a rear is 325/45 R13 :P

The new size for the forthcoming LMP1 prototypes (31/71-18) is equivalent to a 335/35ZR18 road tyre. :o

That is quite low profile and driven to some extent by road wheel fashion, not physics.

Have you seen how much a formula 1 tyre wobbles on the rim through corners? Must be of some benefit I guess, but I would not want that on a road car

I think the poll results answer the question.

From a personal point of view, I had aftermarket 18'' on when i bought the car and although ok at first, they were square set-up and I couldn't let go of the fact they should be staggered. 19'' was the only choice for me, looks-wise they are better and the view from the back with 9.5'' rears is awesome IMO. The ride over bumps etc is worse but cornering is night and day compared to the 18''. Depends on the reason for change and mine was purely looks.

Just to clear a few things up i love my new 17's thanks alot Mr Wilks!! I think they look great and thats all that matter to me. This is a forum and you expect to get a few negative comments Beng cough cough! Reason for this is i want to see what the views are in general. I don't personally think i could live with 19" rims these 17's are about the limit for me ride wise and i dont see the benefit as you can only go so far on a public roads. My 2cents

It's not a negative comment. It's an opinion.

Most of what you've said is of no help or based on fact. To me thats negative :headbang:

Pshh, minor technicalities there Mark.

FWIW, I have plenty of clenching moments just driving my car. It's very much awake.
