At the end of May me, swmbo and another couple are going on a euro trip, Reims, Strasbourg, Switzerland ( Krans Mon something or other, our 3 day base ) St Bernard's pass, Stelvio and back via Germany, Brugge ...

Now here's my daft question ....... Fuel, I use V Power or Tesco 99, I feel daft already :oops: which brand should I look for?

I've only ever put standard unleaded in on previous euro trips in my old 911 so never took any notice of higher grade fuel...

Every time you see a Shell garage stop and fill up with V Power - although as I recall some countries still brand it Optimax. Failing that you'll have to resort to what ever super unleaded you can find. Fill up before you go playing in mountain passes as the tank is small and you'll drain it quickly having fun :thumbsup:

I thought that V Power would be available but as you say I've only got a 250 mile (ish) range so I may have to use super unleaded too :driving: :thumbsup:
 
Anything 97+ will do no harm, even from a supermarket.

Although when I'm at the 'ring I use the Aral SuperPlus (101 RON IIRC) as it's cheaper than the 98 RON at Ed's and gives the car a chance to cool down between sets of 3 laps.

BleiFrei or Sans Plomp and anything in front of it like Super.

Don't rely on the hose colour coding as they can be different.
 
Darren - not answering your question - but when are you going? My better half and I are taking the Zed from here to Tuscany via Reims, Interlaken, the Gotthard/furka/sustenpasses! Might see you lot out there hey?

Don,t call for the men in white gown,s :oops: but for the last 10 years each year i have probably done around 10k miles on French fuel both diesel & unleaded .
This has been in a variety of vehicles from Transit van to 911 & what i can say is the miles per tank on any French grade fuel will outdo a tank of English :cry:
Now read into that what you like but for me i think it,s a better grade there as opposed to the UK so i wouldn,t flap Darren & just fill up with whatever is in front of you :thumbsup:

& don,t forget the pics :thumbsup: although no more selfie,s with just a scarf :oops:

Hi Just a few quick notes from some of the above threads I saw.

Firstly V Power is available on the continent, and like someone else pointed out- any branded fuel with 97 Ron or above will be fine.
However particularly with petrol as apossed to diesel, I would avoid the supermarket stuff. The Tescos 99 Ron fuel is supposed to have used larger % of ethanol to increase Ron number. I found that when I used this on my Z4M too much the oxygen sensors went pop....... Ethanol is fine for race cars and track days but I wouldn't use it in my car for extended periods it will definately not provide as much lubricity to pumps etc as non ethanol fuel and will also be more hydroscopic and may even allow some level of corrosion.
