Max Clifford in the 5hit

Err - anyone concerned about the victims here. . . .?

Absolutely, but this isn't a modern thing. The rich and powerful have been screwing over the poor and vulnerable since before the Roman empire.

You can chuck a few in prison, but you'll never stop it happening.

Sad isn't it?

Max Clifford R I P Reside in Prison

He spent his whole life being holier than thou.. better than everyone else, and managing everyone get press for reasons beyond normal decency.....he deserves everything he gets having done what he's done. Our jury system is based on using evidence, and would find someone not guilty at the slightest hint of doubt. I don't doubt they have done their job.

I went to boarding school.

Whats from with being targeted by a peado...they used to tell me it was "character building"....

sorry.

Seriously though, if the people have committed these crimes, then they deserve everything they get (including the fun they will have in prison). My problem is when people are accused but are 100% innocent - they are tarnished for life, even though they did nothing.

It will be the right result.

Pity we didn't get to Cyril Smith though.
That was definitely covered up under political pressure.

Your point being that as this is the case we accept it? - No thanks!

It was this attitude that made me post in the first place - the fact that this has been going on for years does not change the impact on some of the victims and the nature of what is taking place.

We don't still send kids up chimney's and down mines - thank goodness the progress made in child protection is a long way from your argument.

'Sad isn't it?' doesn't even begin to understand what such behaviour can mean to some victims.

Is it still not understood that it is just such complacency that abusers thrive in?

I'm not sure it's complacency, it's fear of the powerful. Back in the 60s and 70s politicians were, if anything, more influential than now. These days they are more despised than venerated and the press are willing to have a go.

First ...... I have to say that I have no time for Paedo's , I have difficulty even putting the words children and sex in the same sentence ...... however

we're talking 1978, and a 19 year old ....... that would make him 35 ....
when I was 18 I was regularly being used and abused by a 32 year old good looking bird ..... don't recall it being unpleasant :)
..............and whilst I'm at it  a 21 year old popped my cherry when I was 14 ........ another not too unpleasant memory ...... hahahahaha

it was a different world back then .......

Deserved the sentence he got IMO, now for the compensation litigation and rightly so

Right result, too lenient in my opinion

He'll serve 2.5 years in an open prison then be out on a tag most likely, still he probably won't have a business to go back to so that's an added punishment.

He is in his seventies - does he need a business?

Given he was actively running his business I'd say it'll be a massive disappointment for him if it all goes bang, also he'll need something to earn a living by the time 8+ individuals receive a big payout :D plus there are allegedly other cases to come-and think of the court cost's

Not nice to hit a man when he's down but on this occasion maybe its OK :P
