Hi guys,

Anyone tried moving house with a Z4 before? Call me crazy but desperate situations call for certain measures...basically would it at all possible to fold and fit a hefty double mattress into a Z4? Or maybe a 1 series if friends are available? Maybe on the passenger side with the roof down? Go down a few A/roads.?

That was obviously the first attempt but I have exhausted that option due to damn weekend closing times!!

Haha Im sure they'll be someone about to take photos no doubt.
Thanks, I'm not in Bristol unfortunately...though was considering moving there as commutable.
Also the weekend vans are mostly fully booked. Oh dear..

You might be able to lay it across the top of the roll-over bars and on to the boot. How you'd fasten it down, I don't know. You would almost certainly attract the attention of any police in the vicinity.

Confessions: I once drove back from Homebase with a 12-foot length of kitchen worktop in the back of a Porsche 911 Targa. It was OK until I went round a corner and it started to tilt sideways. On another occasion I tried carrying a bike on a rack fitted to the boot of the 911 (i.e. in front). It worked OK, and the visibility wasn't bad if I craned my neck, but after one trip I decided that I looked like an unrepentant hit-and-run driver and that I'd certainly be pulled over.

Reminded me of this...

Of course it'll fit!

I call my wife "The Mattress" cause when I get in bed, all she does is lay there, and I've wanted a new one ever since she started sagging.

Took a double mattress to the dump in a 1 series convertible, had to fold and wedge it in with the top down behind the front seats so no chance in Zed! :)

Thanks for your comments and jokes. Managed to get a lovely van with a man. The zed is already full, I sold most of the bigger items very cheaply to avoid the transportation issue. Here's hoping I find my own sweet place soon! Feels like I'm living out of the zed sort of..got plan A, B, C and D...
