Massive rear end shunt - write off?

Cheers for the reply.

I've been signed off work for 7 days, and this will be reviewed in order to potentially extend it as my neck doesn't feel right. I have initiated legal proceedings towards the party at fault for loss of earnings and personal injury.

Did you sell because of the damage?

Anthony.

*Edit*

Just had a reply as I was concerned the car would be classed as a CAT D, therefore affecting future resale value :

No the vehicle will be repaired to the factory and manufacturers standards, using genuine parts ordered through the dealership and repaired by our technicians who have been trained by BMW. The vehicle and repair will not show up on any vehicle checking databases including HPI Check and will not be classed as a CAT D repair.

We didn't sell due to the damage, we had already been looking at changing it, but this pushed us to it, as you say, they are never the same. It had had far worse problems as we were a victim of the E46 swirl flap issue! Hope you get it all sorted and both you and the car are well again soon.

I'm sorry to pick holes in your story but if you had ripped or torn ligaments in your neck as you describe you wouldn't be signed off for only a week, in fact you would barely be able to keep you head straight because torn ligaments do not heal themselves and need replacing.

Not sure why you feel the need to over dramatise what has happened and I can tell you it wont get you anywhere with your claim because too many people try to take insurance companies to the dry cleaners for very little in the way of injury :-S

Either way an accident whilst stationary isn't nice, I know, I have been hit at 40MPH by a Qashqai that ended up going through the rear window of my 3 series.

Glad you have no serious injuries.

I'm over-dramatising nothing. After a further visit with my GP i'm now signed off for another 2 weeks, at the end of which another assessment is required, but the GP has said i'll be off for a while.

I'm now on Amitriptyline to reduce the muscle spasms that are occurring, and to enable me to sleep at night.

I take offence to both the attitude and arrogance in your post - pigeon holing me and stereotyping me after reading a brief excerpt of my story.

At the end of the day, I was on my way to work (retail manager, working nights in an intensely physical job)- A job which i've held for 7 years, and am pushing for promotion in, working 40 - 50 hours a week - and now am suffering as a result of someones lack of concentration.

All i'm doing is relaying and following medical advice.

If you've nothing helpful to add here, then please feel free to ignore this thread - as i'll no longer bother responding to you.

Have a good day.
