Marriage and Profession

We have quite few chartered accountants, doctors, or even lawyers/solicitors here. Are their spouse/partner also in the same profession?

My wife is also ACMA. My boss is Finance Manager (QBE), and his wife is Financial Controller (MAAT). One of the Financial Controller (QBE) has his wife (ACMA) as No.2 in Shared Service Centre in the same company.

Perhaps marriage/relationship only works because they both understand each other better than anyone else.

I think it's because nobody else will have an accountant !! hehe

We are the most boring people in the world. No other people can live with us.

kind of worry when people define themselves by their profession...lawyers are often guilty of this.

guess it's due to the amount of people meeting at work.

Yeah. Mrs Lozzer works in Law. Pretty much all of her colleagues are married to / live with other lawyers... partly because their social life revolves around their work, and partly because all they can talk about is work! :D

feel your pain bro...my girlfriend is a lawyer.

say what you want about accountants, most can turn their hand to a bit of friendly accounting advice, help with the tax return etc etc..but until you spend a significant amount of time with a lawyer you'll never fully appreciate the chasm between what they learnt at law school and their ability to give a straight answer to a real world legal based question...

My wife was my boss' PA when I met her :D

She did work for the same employer for a few years as an Exec PA when she moved to the UK with me. She doesn't work anymore, so technically I guess I'm her boss now :P

In my dreams...

Oh yeah! And try having an argument with one. You've more chance of winning the lottery...

It's not that you can't win, more like they never let you reach the end of the arguement to win !

I'm a retired Prison Governor - met Mrs Gov " inside " many years ago.......................................................... not a prisoner though she was working on the " Parole " desk.

The girlfriend is about to complete her masters degree in Psychology, so I'm constantly analysed and assessed

Career obsessed guys don't make good boyfriends and usually don't know how to have fun IMO. Have been out with medics but its not for me. Yes they understand a bit more about my job but 2 people working shifts is not good for a relationship. If I want to chat about work I can with most of my girlfriends who are also doctors. Being with someone who does something totally different is very refreshing....unless he's an accountant

world's apart at our's :) i've made a living from knocking nail's in/property for 25 years & my wife answers the phone at the local doctor's surgery 20hours a week .
been together since we were 15 ( 29years !!!!! ) maybe i have a high level of tolerance & endurance :D
