Marmite Headlight Issues

Hi all,

Reaching the final stages of Project marmite! I am having a problem though! My 2004 e85 was an SE. So came out of the factory with Xenon headlights (which I sold) to replace with aftermarket Blacked out Halos! They look lovely and fit right in without any issues however, because my car came out of the factory with xenons, the lights don't just 'plug in and play' the wiring is completely different!!! :(

I called BMW and they told me that you can go from halogen to xenon or halogen to angel eye, BUT CANT GO from xenon to a 'downgrade' to halos... the halos i bought are definately RHD and are from a UK source.

Has anyone has xenon headlights and done an angel eye conversion... not actually stripping the lights down, but actually replacing the entire unit??

I need a decent automotive electrician to help me possibly re-wire my lights... then Project marmite is finished!!

:D

I'm pretty sure you have to replace the LCM with a halogen unit or recode it and unplug the suspension sensors. You may need to do a few loom changes too.

Yes you need a normal LCM, but you need to have it coded to your car. The problem is I think it holds more date than just lighting, I think I've read it contains the cars mileage too.

I'm not sure how you would get on with auto-levelling, at the moment your car has auto levelling due to originally having xenons, but a normal LCM has an adjustment wheel.

My 2003 3.0i had xenons as standard, I decided to go for the blocked out halos (an ebay company sells then with auto level motors built in)? I added a hid direct kit to these and it was simply plug and play. Not sure if that helps?
