My red leather sports seats are more and more tired almost daily, despite the fact I've only owned by car for just over two months. When I first bought it, they were very soft, like nappa leather you get on an expensive leather jacket. Since I bought it though I've used two leather products - Turtle wax cleaner/conditioner and Zymol cleaner - both of which are utter s**t and left the seats slimy, after which I wiped them down with a damp microfibre cloth, but this has left them now tired and looking in need of "refeeding" or so I've read.

But what oh what can I buy in my Halfords store that I can rub over them to give them life back? I feel like I've asked this question a zillion times and I'm not getting anywhere, while my car is looking worse and worse daily :headbang:

Have a look in the classic car mags for adverts for the supa dupa stuff they use on the 'old uns'. That's your best bet.

I've been told that some conditioning products arent exactly the best thing to apply to the leather, well thats the jist i got from reading on detailingworld.co.uk from people in the leather repair industry.
I suggest you take a look on the interior section on the forum there and make your own mind up.

Myself, i'm going to get the Buffalo Leather Cleaner & Protector Kit for £16.50:-

I've used AutoGlym on my seats a couple of times a year. Otherwise I use detailer to wipe them over. A friction-reduced surface is desirable IMO.

I try to avoid the bolsters when getting in and out. Palm of the hand on the base then lever my not inconsiderable self into the seat avoiding the bolster at all costs. No jeans/belts/buckles or other fettish equipment :)

So far the seats seem to be wearing very well.

I know what you're saying - gotta leave off the strap-on getting in to the 'Z' (by strap-on I mean my leatherman)

When cleaning the leather and applying the treatment you may find it works better if the seats are warm. Use the heated seat option if you have it to warm the leather up, I'd say leave the car in the sun but given our weather you may be waiting a while!

:)

What about leather on the steering wheel? This is looking more worn in the bits at positions 2pm and 10pm just where you put your thumb (although I dont put mine there so I'm suprised its wearing so much)... I did rub it down with a damp microfibre cloth though - could this have made the leather harden up?? How can I fix this? (I'm reluctant to use leather cleaner as it could make the leather wear more!)

Another recomendation for Gliptone Liquid leather, the cleaner is ok but noting special, but the conditioner is the best product I have tried and leaves a lovely uniform matt finish.

LLT do some good products, apparently.

I'm going there in a week or two about my red leather M-sports and the best thing to bring them up to the best they can be.

I will report back on what they advise, and if it works.

For now the best thing to do is just not put anything on them...

Gliptone stuff is also meant to be good :D
