I'm very pleased to be here! Have owned my first used Zed for about a month now and have found the forum invaluable.
When buying the Zed there were a couple of considerations that I simply didn’t er … consider. Firstly, getting in and out of it (not as agile as I used to be) and would my golf clubs and associated bits fit in the boot – they don’t! Secondly when my wife said “its stunning and it'll be fun in the summer” it didn't actually meant I can buy it.
My user name Bomber127 may seem inappropriate in these times. Bomber has been my nickname throughout all my 30 years service in Her Majesty's fuzz. Surname Harris anyone with a little WW2 history will understand, 127 was my collar number.
I'm now searching for the latest info on tyre choices, currently Landsail on the rear and Hankook run-flats on the front – sadly plenty of tread all round.

owdoo.. bomber harris is also the name of the late great british superbike and tt racer so your in good company there... congrats on the purchase from a fellow n wales resident.. whereabouts exactly are you, may see you out and about?
A veritable wealth of information here and i can personally recommend the highly rated vredstein ultrac vortis for new tyres, superb performance in any conditions and brilliant value for money

It's a great feeling isn't it mate. The engine note is just lovely (depending on which model you have).

I bought a 3.0i SE 2mths ago and it's sat in my garage since!! Nothing wrong with it but I bought it as a 'fun' car and it'll get some serious use once the weather picks up this year.

It'll not see a road til Feb time I think after I've changed the oil and filters, plugs and done the infamous CDV delete, knowing my luck, the snow will arrive around that time!!
 
Welcome, mine makes me grin on every drive ! +1 for the vreds, I have ultrac vortis on my 3er and cant fault them, grip and performance is top notch.

Even though the tyres have plenty of tread I would bin them,decent non run flats will transform the car.
Where in N.Wales are you,as we go walking regularly in Snowdonia and my see you around,just watch out for the police hiding behind stone walls with those pesky radar guns. :rofl: :rofl:

get rid of the run flats and the smile will get even bigger :D
 
Welcome to the forum, I got mine last June and its still just as exhilarating every time I drive it :driving: I would recommend Vreds when you're ready to swap out those run flats. Looking forward to some pics of your P&J :wink:

Getting on for 3 years for me , my car is on sorn now until the spring.
It's a hobby car sunny days only, because of that every drive is like my first drive and I still get that Cheshire Cat grin :D every time I drive my Z.

Welcome from me too just over the English border.

I know Vreds have been recommended, but don't discount other brands. When I bought my Coupe last April, I swapped the run flats over to Michelin Pilot Sports (ATS Euromaster was doing a good deal at the time fortunately) and have been well pleased with them.

What year and model do you have? More details (and photos) needed - we like to see new forumites Zeds.

With regards to the tyres - vast majority of us go for non runflats to improve the ride and cut down on tram-lining. The non runflats are cheaper as well. Folk have their own favourites but after using Falkens initially I've found the GoodYear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2s are excellent and I'm on my third set. They can be found at a reasonable price on the net. Do search and you'll find lots of recommendations.

Try some forum meets and runs - it adds a great deal to the ownership experience and we're a friendly bunch. :thumbsup:
 
What you have to remember is you are driving a premium car what would be the point of spoiling the experience by fitting tyres that don't do the job . As the saying goes you pays your money you makes your choice. Do not go for cheapo tyres they will not be good for you or the car.
From your experience of life I would suggest that you already know that , so welcome to the forum , have a great year driving your Z

Thank you for the warm welcome, trying to work out how to place images.
I have a carbon metallic 2008 2.0 (engine size a concious choice). Black/grey leather interior, 60k miles and I've no intention of 'keeping the milage down', its going to get used!
I've been riding sports bikes for nearly 30years but had to give them up a 3-4 years ago sadly, I see there's a couple of riders responding.
I live in the Flint area of N. Wales.
Thanks for the advice on tyre choices, I'll get them sorted when (if!) the weather improves and I'm looking forward to the 'meets'
