Many issues 😔

Hi everyone!

Just bought a 2004 z4 and it drives lovely. The roof intermittently works and when it doesn’t work the radio works on full volume and the screen doesn’t flip up and the central locking stops working.
I have checked the obvious fuses and I have a receipt for a refurbed roof pump from a place in Warrington.
I wonder if any one has any suggestions on what I should do next?

Prepare to receive the standard first question! How old is the battery?
Dying or weak batteries cause all sorts of weird and wonderful symptoms on these cars.

Charge the battery using a smart charger then test to see how much capacity it still holds. If it looks okay then try again if it doesn't hold majority of its original capacity then get a new battery and try again.

Capacity and voltage are different things. My neighbor said his battery on his car that had sat SORN for 3 years was fine after he charged it.

Yeah it will show Voltage when charged but as soon as you demand power it will fall off a cliff. So make sure you get a charger that can test the actual capacity of the battery if you don't already have one.

I use a ring smart charger.
