What is real difference around town MPG wise between the two ? Im not really looking at stuck in traffic figures just general pottering about at town speeds.

Looking at the book figures there doesnt seem to be much in it but im pretty sure that wont be the case.

So owners of both id apreciate you real world town MPG

Guys are these figures for the 3.0si engine ?

would be ice to see what the manual owners are achieving round town for a comparison

Cheers !

Manual around town I get about 25 on average..unless during long periods of traffic jams where it may drop a few mpg from that. Never seen it under 23!

My old 3.0i used to get an average of about 20 mpg in and out of london rush hour as my daily commute. My M is getting around 17 mpg but the loud pedal is just too addictive first thing in the morning which can't be helping :)

Bit of a mix there but looks like the manual is a little better.

Most of my trips are at town speeds, only doing 6k per year it's probably not going to be much in it in fuel costs between the 2

Manual will be better for sure. Whenever we discuss MPG on here I'm always surprised at the huge range of figures. If you drive mostly in town then auto is a no brainer.
