I wish I’d taken one now! There seems to be a lot of hate on the forums for the 2.0 are the engine issues really that bad? I found it quite a nice drive. Thanks for your help so far :D
Hi OP, I've had my 2.0i for over two years, it is my daily driver without any of the engine issues that some members on the forum post about, its without doubt one of the most reliable cars I've owned, any vehicle regardless of engine size will at some time throw up issues either through lack of service, maintenance or careless use by the driver, I can only go on my observations

Thanks! Unfortunately my insurance company have decided to make the decision for me and won’t insure me on the z4! Utterly ridiculous as they will on the mx5 and that’s even quicker... :headbang: :headbang:

Ph001... surely that makes it rare as rocking horse droppings and therefore worth a mint?? ;)

You'll be able to put a bigger elastic band or supercharger or whatever they put into the MX5's these days to make them a bit quicker than the stock engine.

The manual roof was available on pre-facelift 2.0 and I think this is the 3rd or 4th one that has ever appeared here.

oy !
my 2.0 is as sweet as a nut, so is tugs. i think its a bit sneery to keep saying 2.0 are unreliable, heresay does not count, lets hope nobody starts the rumour 3.0 owners have little dicks with as much heresay as proof.

This   might convince me to stay on the forum until I can get insured on a z4!! It was a cracking drive and I’m properly gutted!

Well it's the absolute most basic spec you can get, I've never even seen cloth seats on a Z to be honest. It is indeed missing the auto roof buttons so that clears that one up. Did you spot the dent next to the petrol filler cap?

Other than that it's a nice colour car with reasonable mileage but have you inspected the "full service history"? Any receipts or paperwork with it at all to prove?

... and no sport button

The 2.0s do not have the sport button (i think this is true dor the SEs too?)

I would opt for the electric roof models myself, there are so many on the market. Unless this is not a requirement on your part.

You can raise and lower at creeping speed as well...

good for you dan, i have one of each, and i can tell you .. thr 2.0 is more fun to drive, its lighter and more nimble :D
my 2.0 (that is for sale) - has an electric roof with moved motor and modified exhaust and as stated no sport button on 2.0i

I never did get round to the drive-by.. :D

I did check this out before looking at them. Sounds great!!
Unfortunately my insurance company won’t even look at me on these. It’s madness, I really can’t get my head around car insurance, seems illogical at best.

I take it you have tried more than one insurance company ?

"checks his dick size in relation to engine" :D

Yeah, I can get insured with some but unfortunately I had a company vehicle for a few years, then may partner decided to go into the back of someone last January so I have 0 No claims. I need to build that up so need to stay with the same company... between a rock and a hard place!!!

Judging by the JD Power survey it's all BMWs that are unreliable no just the 2.0 :fuelfire:

Don’t! I’m far too easily persuaded, though if I was doing that, I’d have to grow some cojones and go for the 3.0

this is true but remember you may have to consider a knob reduction if you go for a 3.0 :)
