I know things have changed but I still prefer to change cogs myself. The satisfaction of a super smooth manual up/down change is something to behold

I have to agree with you on this gannet. Manual for me. I appreciate auto's are fantastic these days, but I also like to change the cogs myself.
When I was looking for a Z it had to be manual. I'd only have an auto if the car I really wanted only came with an auto box. I was driving an auto 3 series for a few weeks once and I just wanted my stick back!
