Manual or Auto

The missus has put the brakes on me having a motorbike sadly as she sees how I behave in a car...but its alright for her to have a bike license though & she loves motorbikes :D I might have to talk nicely to her to convince her that I need one!

ehhh, can I borrow her??? I'm trying to find a female that doesn't freak out as soon as you mention the word motorbike...

lol

lol! she knows how much I like them but in many ways I can see where she is coming from & I am sure you have experienced it... its the fact that other road users don't always seem to be very aware of bikes & some roads users only seem to look for cars but the thrill & power of a bike gets my heart racing in a good way just thinking how much fun they must be. :)

Manual for me. Might take longer and be slower, than a modern auto, but it's soo much more fun.

On the bike thing, used to ride them. Would be dead within a month, if I bought modern one.

Besides I have no problem scaring myself silly in the Zed, from time to time. :driving: :D

I guess it's car dependant , I had a 400bhp Jag in auto and was a pleasure .Couldnt not imagine it in Manual. However I test drove both z4 auto and manual and bought the latter .... So cruiser or squealer lol ?

On the Auotobahn last summer at 90/95 I floored my auto and have to say it surprised me when it dropped into 4th gear! I wouldn't have dreamt of changing down in a manual. :)

Smooth, easy, economical, one handed driving (use the other one for controlling the media system before anyone makes any jokes!!)

I'm afraid that those of use who love manuals are a dying breed. More cars are being made with paddle shifters. I do love shifting through the gears!

I thought the manual was a dying breed too but in the UK over 80% of new cars sold are still manual...its the exciting so called drivers cars that only come with paddles & this just baffles the hell out of me... yes paddles are quicker but they don't make for an exciting driving experience for me personally & our TTS has paddles & a twin clutch gearbox so I can experience the boring side of driving first hand.

The future isn't bright as far as I am concerned in the gearbox respect but I do appreciate if people do lots of miles a year then an auto/twin clutch makes plenty of sense.

x2.

My enjoyment of driving autos came crashing down with the Range Rover Vicky Pollard Special Evoooog thing I had today, what an overpriced, cheap tat - horrible thing to drive... and the gearbox is in a different country!! lol that auto box should be burned!

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

But my auto's are still awesome, and a great drive, even though my left leg is just used as support... :P

:poke: :poke: :poke:

i have always owned manual cars and loved having the control to tell the car when to change gear, but i suffer with my knee and this time i looked for an auto when i looked at buying the Z4. im so pleased i did :) the auto box in the 3.0i is a great bit of kit. you can still have fun and its a nice easy drive. i still have a manual in my works van but not the same
