Who’s Ted…?

Something to do with dipping the clutch for a length of time if I remember correctly…could be wrong of course. :driving:

On my X5M, adaptive was not available but was on the non M cars. Perhaps the new manual has the same "exclusive" issues with that

No I’m wrong, seems you CAN have adaptive on a manual, not many manufacturers offer it however.

Probably tech has improved from when I was looking at adaptive a few years ago, eg, the new Ranger has adaptive that can keep to varying speed limits without you adjusting it if you want.
Our 2018 Golf GT has adaptive as standard and it's a manual, when you change gear the cruise remains active

The fact they've only given one colour choice for this is disappointing, and it couldn't be more of an old fart combo. 💩

We're these not about £45k when they were launched in 2019?
Seems like a huge jump in price in 5 years.

About £49k, apparently.

Still, big increase and now the used market is looking a bit more normal you can get a 2023 M40i with 10 miles on the clock for £43k.

If demand isn't high there may be some discounts out there.

Not tempted by a manual are you Sars given you use it for everyday duties…? :driving:

My first thought was actually the opposite...looks like a dodgy drug dealers kind of ride.

But wait a news flash! Latest from BMW UKHQ says...."From launch, only the Frozen Deep Green colour is available with the Handschalter Pack, although more colour options are likely to become available later in 2024"

Presumably if nobody buys it.

Should reserve final judgement on the colour until we see some actual images rather than computer generated ones

I am indeed, whilst I do like the ease of an automatic, especially with queuing traffic, I've never warmed to shifting with the paddles and it does take some of the enjoyment out of driving. This is highlighted whenever I get into the Golf, it makes you feel like you are actually involved in the drive. I really do think that the B58 plus the manual will be a fantastic combination, I'm just hoping that it will become available in other colours.
What is up with BMW UK, why limit the appeal when other countries are embracing it fully.

If the demand was there they would make them, but it just isn't :poke:

They ain’t been built yet so how do you know…? :poke:
I suspect a large and successful operation like BMW may have done some research. I may be wrong but I doubt it :D

If there’s no demand why bother offering a manual at all then, why invest any money at all in it…? All that sticking to one colour does is limit your audience….id have thought that’s the opposite of what they want no…? I simply don’t get the rationale of let’s put a manual box in but limit colours. Car manufacturers paint in batches of one colour, it makes no difference if the car is auto or manual, a big part of the wait for a new car you order is waiting until they get enough cars ordered to paint a batch in one colour, a car is built from a sheet of rolled steel into the drive away finished vehicle in 24hrs, except waiting for paint, so put a manual box in, get more orders in, paint them more quickly…happy customers…..you’d assume… :?

Tbh, for a few grand more I'd be going for an M2 over a manual Z4.
Bit of a different demographic...
M2.....20-something software designers (or plumbers) with baseball caps
Z4.....60-something retirees with flat caps
