Anyone know the best gearbox oil to put in a manual 23i.
I know its supposed to be filled for life, but wondered if i could improve the rather notchy gear change, especially between 1st and 2nd gear.
Rather spoils the enjoyment of driving the car.
Thought this was a typical BMW thing as i have only ever driven a One series previously and that was similar.
Until i drove the latest One series and that was smooth.
The only way to get a reasonably smooth change is to stay in sport mode, which helps to keep a bit of throttle on between gear changes. Its almost like the revs drop off too quickly between gear changes.
Once had a car with a damper fitted on the carb. which also delayed the rate at which the throttle closed, think it was for emission reasons.
My car could do with a similiar set up.
