Maniacs e89 Mod of the Day...

New LED front indicators installed so that the new lci turn signals and rear turn signals all now flash at the same time rather than the fronts looking lazy.

Less than £25 from eBay. Look even better in the flesh and I was concerned they may be dimmer than OEM but they actually look brighter! Happy.. So long as they last.

Tbh they're easy and they're not. The hatch on the wheel arch is easy enough to remove but with the wheels on, access is tight and they take a fair bit of force to turn and pull out. I gave up the first time and then tried again with better results. The bit it doesn't mention in the manual is that you've got to pull hard to get the bulb assembly out once turned. I have cuts to prove it.

Still it's then easy to change the bulb and put it all back together.

Not sure of the actual link but this looks the same;

Gary are you saying the fronts aren't timed with the side and rear repeaters?, I notice in your video the divers side indicator has a stuttered flash so i'm guessing the new bulb is on the passenger side? Got me paranoid to check mine now lol I just assumed they all flashed at the same time :|

Tim.

Looking good Gary, have ordered myself a set of these. I take it they just replate the normal bulbs and no other work needed to the light unit?

The stuttering is probably because of the frame rate of the video. The reason they don't all flash evenly is because the side and rear are LED and illuminate immediately. The fronts are normal bulbs and take time to get to brightness so they look 'slow'.

Now I have LED all around it all flashes evenly. Cost cutting by BMW.

Cheers for that, I think I will have a look tomorrow :)

Bloody mods! This is something that, as I never have to look at it, would never bother me.

But now you've raised the topic, its another on my list (behind smart top and LCI side repeaters).
