Hello, my name is Ken and I just purchased my first Z4. It is a 2003 Z4 Roadster 3.0i with a 6-speed manual transmission and has the premium package and navigation system. I used to own a 2000 Z3 so I'm not new to this type of car but the Z4 is obviously a much different vehicle so I'm still a noob! The Z4 is in nearly new condition because it only has 31K miles on it! I feel fortunate to have found this car with such low miles. I just had to snatch it up.

I bought the Z4 as a commuter vehicle for my new job. My other vehicle is a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited which gets like 16 MPG which isn't ideal when you have a long commute. Additionally I want to keep the Jeep for a long time and the Z4 will allow me to do that.

At any rate, I'm glad to have found this forum and will probably have a lot of questions as I start working on the car. Here is a picture from Monday night when I bought her home.

Welcome to the forum Ken, looks like you've found yourself a nicely spec'd Zed there with lovely low miles - well done
You must be one of the very few who have bought a 3.0 Zed to help with the cost of commuting

Hi and Welcome!

I too bought the Zed for a nicer commute. The e46 (2litre) was 23mpg based on over 40k miles which was split 80:20 motorway and normal. The Zed (3litre) gives me 29mpg based on a similar split 70:30. Based on just under 10k miles.

Plus the Zed has additional comforts such as heated seats, electric mirrors, etc. Not to mention better aesthetics! And doubles up as a nice weekend car too!

Welcome enjoy your new commute :driving:
A low mileage peach you've found there, almost a shame to use it as a daily.

Ha! You've obviously never owned a Jeep. The Z4 will get twice the MPG of the Jeep and save me about $1000 a year in fuel costs. And will allow me to keep the Jeep for another 10 years as opposed to 4 or 5 if all my miles were being racked up on the Jeep.

Yeah, I guess everything's relative - 16 mpg

Hi Ken, and welcome to the forum. Bonus points for photos in your first post!

Looks like you have found a great Z4! While it may be a shame to be putting miles on it, you probably want low miles if you plan to use it as a daily!

And it must seem positively frugal compared to the Jeep - I've never had one, but I did rent a Chevy Blazer in the States once in the late 90s - it did like a drink! (Lucky it was on company expenses)!

Welcome to the board Ken. Nice low miles. Great cars. Your commute is going to be fun and economical. Well fun any way.

Welcome! Nice car and very Low mileage. How much did you pay for it?

$10,981
Wow! I guess these cars aren't as cheap in the US as they are in the UK. But I suppose the mileage goes a long way to the price and the fact it's been garaged.

I worked for an American company from 1998 to 2010 and would be over there at least once most years.

Given how cheap new cars have always been in the USA it never ceased to amaze me how much used ones (and often VERY used ones) used to be advertised for. :o

So I'm not particularly surprised, although the current exchange rate makes it look dearer to us at present!

Anyway OP, it still looks like you got a good deal - now just enjoy! :driving:

Hi Ken, welcome to the forum. My first Bimmer was also a 2000 Z3, sold it and ordered new my current 2004 Z4 3.0i. Good place here to get knowledge.

Welcome to the Forum from Canada.
Looks like you got a great deal.
Lot's of people here that can help you out when you need it.
Just about every one is generous with their knowledge and time.
Hopefully you have the car manuals that came with the car when new.
Lots of great roads to explore down in Pa.

Cheers from Toronto
