Mandatory speed limiters

My Jag XE can read speed limit signs and has an intelligent speed limiter that can read the sign and adjust accordingly. I've only tried it a couple of times and its a bugger when it reads the wrong sign and won't speed up. The lack of correctly placed signs stops the system from working effectively. At least I can chose wether to use it or not!!
has anyone actually had any proper info on this?
It's quite vague. Are they permenant limiters eg like BMW and Mercedes already have on their vehicles?
or adjusting limiters?
There will have to be work arounds - Audi group, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Hyundai, Honda, Renault, You name it, make revenue from their performance cars.
If said performance cars are no longer good for the track sales and profits will be hit - they won't be keen for that. (regardless of how many people track their cars in reality - that will be the arguement.)
I never understand the fog-light rage - can't say anyones fog lights has ever blinded me that much ?
I wouldn't even go that far - it's often purely a case of driving sense. Not enough gaps, not using mirrors, not checking blind spots, general distractions be it radios, phones etc all probably are the root cause of significantly more accidents than speed or not stopping from speed. But you can't target that with easy revenue making solutions. I'm sick of politicians and ''oficials'' suggesting otherwise tbh.

Personally, if they're doing this, I'd like to see the manufacturers being able to, upon request from the police, send a remote shut down instruction to the car that would result in a gradual (over say 20-30 sec) reduction in power to bring the car to a halt. Something like this would be invaluable either when a car is stolen or if the police are involved in a pursuit.

I find fog lights very annoying when there is no need to have them on (option should be removed from the driver) like the drivers who use them on the motorway when its raining and they sail along at 80 + mph with this huge red glow behind them (slow the feck down) or just no fog around at all.
It must be an age thing as I find them very bright and the rule is don't use them if you can see more than 100 mtrs ahead.
It's just poor driving standards IMHO.

Yep. The traffic sign assist thingy in my GLA won't read a speed sign if it's dirty, or sometimes if not on both sides of the road. On the 70mph A55 in N Wales, it picks up the 40 sign of the road parallel to it :xMJJamieson said:
Seems the current fad now is to approach a T-Junction at speed with the intention of not stopping and banging straight on the road and they slam on the brakes at the very last minute with the bumper out on the road. They look at you on the main road and laugh as you go around them... :headbang: :thumbsdown:
Big Brother in action, the GPS is needed as far as far as I know for car position for it to know how fast you can go, so at any time the nanny state can find out where you are, for me part of the solution is safer drivers , not just speed itself...………. I must go and buy more petrol to enjoy my motorbike and cars while I still can. The upside for me is I have no intention of ever buying a new car :driving:
