The boy only said "You let your dad down i hope you know that".

Daley responded by tweeting: "After giving it my all... you get idiots sending me this..."

Will I be get caught if I call someone idiot on facebook, twitter or forums? Is "idiot" offensive?

Can't believe what a the fuss is about, not a nice thing to say obviously but getting arrested, the world has gone mad!! Oh well, looking on the bright side, less of them on the road to catch me speeding at 31 in a 30

Tapatalking on my iPhone.......

I think the right course of action was taken, given the context and circumstances in which it was sent.

Edit:
If you Google it and see what he sent and how many Tweets you'd want the idiot locked up.

Thing is Daleys Dad died last year I believe, so a pretty shitty thing to say

I think there was more than calling him an idiot this guy has been hounding him for a while. There is a big campaign to get this guy banned from twitter too.

It is like bullying on a pretty awful scale, lets be fair you dont go to the olympics not to try and win do you!

His dad who died of cancer recently,
was there any need?

Trouble is there is no respect nowadays, I think maybe this is about time coming.. I say shoot the bastards and then that'll make others think.
Trouble with this country is the do-gooder's have had there way and it hasn't work, thats why these twats line every corner

The point is, you just called people Twats and expressed an opinion they should be shot. Your opinion and I'm not arguing but someone else could take some or all of that as offensive and would like you arrested and prosecuted. Where does it end?

I might not like what you have to say, but I'll defend your right to say it. (misquote, but you know what I mean)

I am guessing that Daly has a twitter account because he wants to capitalise on his success through further sponsorship. I don't know if I am being a bit harsh but I would think that putting yourself in the public domain as a celebrity is something that requires a bit of thought. Presumably there is always going to be a rough with the smooth?

I sympathise but I am unsurprised. Whinging about being targeted by the poisonously minded sounds both counter-productive and precious to me.

The arrest? I don't know enough of the history in this case, but I am against state involvement/censorship of comments unless they incite violence. Foul people tend to reap as they sow, being good is it's own reward. The offensive jerk is what he is, I pity him, involving the police should be a last resort.

Suspect that was a timing of post issue, not a dig at you. About 3 posts landed simultaneously
:D
I was teasing.
But I wasn't sure if I have sufficient 'presence' for it to be obvious. Now I know. :x

I am not sure if I can help myself :)

I believe that he was arrested because of a threat to kill, not because of the comment about TD's father.

that is my understanding .....see cj's post below ,much more to it than the published comment about his late Father

The Twitter user Reilly_69 made a serious of insulting comments about Daly, including a claim that he would drown the superstar teenager. It is believed this tweet resulted in his arrest.

That makes more sense now.

Whilst I agree this numpty should feel the long arm of the law for his stupidity I think getting everything in context would also help. He's a 17-year old kid who probably realises what a prat he's been.

Most of us when we make prats of ourselves as teenagers do it to a fairly limited audience thankfully. I think this whole affair will probably have taught him a salutary lesson but the involvement of the police will also hopefully send a message to everyone that you cannot send bilious messages to people over the internet and not expect any consequences.

I don't know whether any of you saw the abuse Leon Knight (has been nobody/never-will-be footballer) posted about Wolves player Jamie O'hara and his wife (Danielle Lloyd) the other day? He should be next in front of the magistrates. Oh and Rio Ferdinand will get his comeuppance soon too and not before time - he seems to think its ok for him to use language bordering on racism but not anyone else.
