Maldives ?

Lived and worked on Gan in the Addu Atoll nearly 40 years ago. No tourism then, but a great holiday - well, there wasn't much work to do. Just a place for one or two planes to land and refuel each day in the days when they didn't have the endurance to reach Hong Kong or Singapore in one hop. 8)

Have been twice with my Ex and they were some of the best weeks of my life, just the most beautiful place in the world, wiht the possible exception of the Cook Islands

I would go back tomorrow, sadly i am now a single man and i dont think its the sort of place i would go too with a mate..... :P

ESP - its taken a few searches of various hard drives, here are a few pictures (taken on a disposable camera) from when we went to RB some nine years ago! Things might have changed a bit for 2013 guests! Rooms were nice but pretty standard for a top hotel in Egypt nowadays. Brought back some great memories - we had a great time there

Seat belts fastened I hope you are not claustrophobic...

That figure can't be right?! I call bullshit... you can go to the Maldives for £2 - 2.5k  :D Thats the level my wife is currently looking at and as per Bings quote, tonight when she gets in the iPad won't be able to connect

Think it cost us about £2,600 in 1998. However you can pay as much as you want for a holiday if you try hard enough. I guess with two kids then that's 4 business class flights, which must be pushing £10k to start with.

£15,000 to be marooned on an island with a load of people I don't know - almost as bad as being on a cruise..

Well we've not even paid anywhere near half off that, but are very much looking forward to it!
9nights in the Maldives and 5 nights in SriLanka, week weeks today YAY!! 8)

We did Sri Lanka and Maldives (7 nights each) for our honeymoon in march 2004 and loved every minute, Sri Lanka is very busy busy and a lot of traveling if you do the trips, which you should (sigiriya rock - amazing, tea plantations - beautiful, elephant orphanage - ahhhhh!) then chilled out in paradise after. You will enjoy it I guarantee it
