Maldives in Japan

Hi from an Aussie living in Japan. I've been lurking for a few weeks and thought I should introduce myself. Recently became the owner of a 2005 Maldives Blue 3.0i auto. (Manual not available in Japan)
It has 49,000km on the clock, and is in pretty awesome condition all round. Really happy with it so far.
Anyway I'm new to the z4 so probably can't add much for now. Hope that changes in the future.

Cheers.

Maldives blue is the best colour by far. I went to the BMW dealer yesterday in my 2003 . She was by far the oldest car but she still looked the best car there. Not really true about manuals.

Japanese market is strange. Premium cars are LHD! It must cost a few yen to get her through the shaken. I suppose it would pay to take the car home with you when you return to Oz. The Australian authorities won't allow LHD to be imported so you should have an easy time.

Thanks for the comments guys.
I'd give some background info... I've lived here for 12 years, have a Japanese wife and two young boys.
I bought the car at an auction house in Kobe through a broker. Searched for a long time for a good one.
I should have been more specific; as fas as I know, only the (e85) z4m in Japan was a manual, the standard 3.0i was only auto or SMG. BMW Japan offered the z4 in LHD and RHD. Used LHD are cheaper (less popular I suppose) but I held out for a RHD because my wife wasn't comfortable driving a LHD.
As for the color, it was secondary but now that I have it, I really think it suits the car and wouldn't change it for any other... :)

Looks a great motor and reminds me of my old Z3 in Maldives Blue, you still drive on the correct side of the road I see. :)

One of my ankle biters who speaks Japanese says you are in Hiroshima. I used to import cars from Japan a few years ago. Hope to hear more from you on the forum :driving:

That's absolutely correct, I'm in Hiroshima. Your child reads Japanese very well.

I was thinking of getting an s2000 but they're getting expensive here in Japan. I heard that it was because a large number had been exported and they're getting scarce on the ground here.

Hi z4japan, lovely looking Zed you have and that auto box is a peach

Yeah, I've been impressed with it especially in sport mode. The timing of the up and downshifts is pretty good. Look forward to more mountain driving to test it out thoroughly :driving:

Welcome to the forum, z4japan  Returned to UK from Tokyo last year after a couple of years working there, lovely country :)

Congratulations, definitely the best colour:

Looks like there are a few other Maldives blue around the forum. Paintwork looks in great condition. I think our color looks best in diffuse light.

Hi and welcome. That's a great looking Z4 you have found
95% of our auto market here in NZ are Japanese imports, and one thing I've found is that the JDM Japanese cars are fantastic, but the Euro cars seem really poorly specced when compared with versions from Europe - e.g. smaller wheels (and not as much choice), and fewer options. Perhaps it's a Japanese thing that they don't spec their Euro cars as highly (cost perhaps?), which seems strange as the Japanese branded cars always seem to come with all the bells and whistles.
Having said that, at least the engines/trans are the same so you get the same sweet ride as the rest of us

Not many in Maldives I don't think. They are all grey, silver or black (with a smattering of dark blue and even more occasional red).
