Making the Roof Fold Properly

Hi guys,

Ever since I picked my zed up i've been having problems with the roof not opening 100% and therefore not locking in place when open. If i was to push (quite hard) on the open roof it would then click into place.

I searched on here and saw a post about making sure that the material didn't fold in on itself. And by doing that it has semi fixed the problem.

As it stands tho I have to make sure the material folds properly every time, meaning i have to start to open the roof, stop half way, get out the car, walk round and pull the material so it folds correctly, get back in the car and carry on holding the button. If i am then the immediately close the roof and open it again it will fold properly and go down all the way. But if i close the roof again leave it to the next time i want the roof down (maybe a couple of days or even a week) i have to get out the car to make sure it folds properly.

Any suggestions on how i can do it so that it will fold properly even after a week of not being used?? As i'm sure you can imagine its a bit annoying having an electric roof but still having the get out the car when you want to open it.

Don't think it's anything like that.

People say that if the roof hasn't been down for a while it can "forget" how to properly fold.
It's just getting it to "remember" how to properly fold now.........

Just to say that mine does the same. I've had the car for 2 months, and haven't managed to solve it yet, other than doing what you're doing: stopping it half way, getting out, and straightening it.

On mine, it's a small kink on either side which folds inwards rather than outwards. By folding inwards, it gets trapped, and makes the folded roof too bulky to go flat enough for the latch to catch. Only by pushing them outwards will the roof go flat.

I think basically the previous owner did nothing about it, and the material has been folded the wrong way enough times to make it want to go that way all the time.

Wish I knew the solution as it's putting me off buying the gaptech remote roof kit: no point installing that if I have to stop it halfway!

iv been having the same problem aswell, i have to keep on pushing down on the stowed roof for it to click into place. I dont think theres a proper fix for this apart from trying to manipulate the fabric everytime to try and get it to fold how you want it? Im not sure if it makes more of a difference when its quite hot and dry as the fabric seems to be less flexible?

Well im almost glad im not the only one.

Ive considered making the roof wet and then lowing it correctly and then leaving to dry on a hot day. To see if this will "Fix" it into the correct position. But not sure if A)the roof will actually dry at all, B) it will do the roof any good. (I'd rather have a roof that didn't fold properly to a roof that was damaged in some way.)

If any body has any other ideas then lets please hear them!!!

I had something similar, turned the previous owner had put a box of tissues and a headband on the parcel shelf. Took these out and the roof opens all the way

If possible, try letting it warm in the sun, open it while properly folded, then leave it open for days, get it to take on a new set? Just an idea, don't know if it'll work, and of course you need a secure place under cover to park it.
