making Black Sapphire look blacker

Hi Gents,
Silly question, my car is Black Sapphire but somehow it is not as black as I like it to be, is there anyway using polish to make it look blacker ?
When I look closely at the gloss coating, it seems a little foggy & not see through clear, wonder if the cause comes from what the salon used
or is this how Black Sapphire looks like.

Many thank

Mine looks more blue in some light although I've not detailed yet.

Hi Gents its nite time now just took a photo.
When you look at the reflection it seems like the top coat does have a slight fog to it but I not sure.

Thanks

That looks like carbon black Woodrow.

Poor boys is a good choice with darker cars. The reason it probably doesn't pop is the lacquer probably has lots of micro scratches and swirls from years of washing and being in the elements. When scratched the paint acts like a diffuser rather than reflecting back. A good detail cutting the paint with something like Meguires ultimate compound will flatten the scratches, then polishing will bring back the shine then protect it will a wax made to make cars pop like Poor boy black hole.

This is the door panel of the Alpina also Black Saphire, after detailing it earlier in the summer.
Followed by one of the whole car taken at the same time.
I used Meguiars microfibre compound (I think) with micro fibre pads followed by Blackfires gloss enhancing polish and sealant and finally Soft 99 - Kiwami extreme gloss.

Thanks Guys,
Well Im now contemplating on going with vinyl wrap if I can't get it to look blacker. If I do so will go for Satin Metallic Grey or Candy Red. Lol
Will have to look at color samples before deciding

John_E89 Wheels are Vertini Magic Concave 19 inch, 8.5 F & 9.5 R offset F & R +35 fits perfect with no rubbing even with Eibach lowered springs & on 235 F & 265 R tyres.

Cheers

I wonder if the problem is because it's metallic. Although black, you have all those pesky little reflective bits in it, which will naturally look lighter and detract from the blackness.

Sapphire Black is never going to be totally black like Jet Black because it's a metallic colour but if your car has years of wear and tear on it the paint will be in less than perfect condition and black unless it is in perfect condition never looks good.

When I got my Sapphire Black E89 the paint looked a bit dull due swirl marks and micro scratching probably thanks to years of bad washing techniques by the previous owner and general wear and tear, after a detail consisting of multi stage polishing and ceramic coating thereafter it brought back the depth of shine to the paint and the car now looks way way better.

The colour looks deeper but as I say it will never be totally black due to being metallic. The photo below is a good representation of how it looks in the direct sun after the polish and ceramic coating:

Looks pink to me, but I’m colour blind. :D

How do you know it looks pink if you don’t know what pink looks like :poke: :poke:

My wee fella is completely colourblind, the two colours that really screw him are pink and turquoise, the optician says they must be side by side on the grey scale, the only colour he sees. He’s never going to get a job as an electrician or bomb disposal
