Makes me wonder

How can the numbers go up, then down, then up again ?? Is this based on taxed cars because some get sorn'ed ? I can't believe my car is only one of 38 3.0 Si roadsters with the auto box... Hmmm.

Aahhh, ok. Went to the last page. Must be based on what the car is registered as... Though even then, I am still confused as they should be classified the same... :?

Click on the "Combined" figures - believe its numbers of cars registered in that year, that are still on the road, as of today (or when the data was extracted from the DVLA database). So if you look at 3.0 Si cabrios from each year, that's:

38 registered in 2011
34 registered in 2010
38 registered in 2009
31 registered in 2008
2 registered in 2007

On the road today.

Okay, understand now. Though mine doesn't exist in those numbers as it was registered in April 06 so the seond last page covers mine.

Mine doesn't exist at all - there again, I expect these numbers are based on V5 entries, and mine is down as "Manufacturer: BMW", no make or model, and type convertible....

Just be glad it's not a Boxster, check out the fault claims data from Warranty Direct, quite interesting. Unfortunately they don't list the E85/6 & E89 separately,

Ha - they can only cover me as an "Alpina B10" as the roadster doesn't exist in their database. The joys of exclusivity

6 out of 10 top reliable manufacturers = Japanese, and most of the top 100 reliable car types are... You guessed it, Japanese. Only one BMW - 3 series - In the top 100 - and it's at 96 ! :o

Looking at the reliability of E85, then the bits that go are:

  • Electrical 51.72%
    Axle & Suspension 41.38%
    Braking System 3.45%

The other bits are fine...

  • Engine 0.00%
    Fuel System 0.00%
    Transmission 0.00%
    Air Conditioning 0.00%
    Cooling & heating system 0.00%

According to howmanyleft, there's only 2 Auto Coupés registered in 2007 still on the road, and it reports none are SORN - suggesting there was only two registered in that time. Mines an 07 plate (so Mar 07 -> Sept 07). Am I really in a super exclusive club of two??

And that warrantydirect reliability index - given the reputation German cars have over French ones and the Ford/Vauxhall ones, there's a really surprising number of Fords, Vauxhalls, Pugs and Citreons in that top 100!

Could be that there are simply more people on the forum who own the e85/86 as well.
It's because the E89 problems section was only created yesterday from scratch. Prior to that, any problems were within the main E89 forum.

Any previous threads need to be moved in manually.
