Make sure your wheels are balanced

Got some new tyres fitted to my car a few weeks ago by a mobile fitter and ever since the steering felt a bit twitchy above 60mph. I suspected that the wheels weren't balanced properly as I had had 4 wheel alignment done by a garage that I can trust.

I finally decided to get them checked by a local tyre fitter i have used before and low and behold the balancing was way out. The car feels alot better now. So the moral to the storey is never assume a job is done properly if you notice any symptoms of a bad job always get it checked out and don't assume it's just your imagination.
 
Very true. I have my tires mounted by a local rim specialist where they also balance them. Every Spring I take them back and have them rechecked at no charge except for the cost of any new weights they use.

Depends. I didn't lose any off 3 rims but all had to be changed on one, cost $8.00. I forgot one important part of this, to keep the cost low the rims must be off the car for them to look at them. This is good for me because at that time of the year I haven't mounted them on the Zed yet anyway. When I get them back I wash and clean the tires and rims then polish the rims.
 
Yes, nothing is worse when a judge checks the nitrogen and finds out you have last years nitrogen. Very embarrassing. :oops:
