Make Nav Screen stay closed?

I have been looking at Headunit for a E86 2008 Z4 Coupe.
Sadly mine has the very dated Navigation pop-up screen.

I saw another member here with the Pioneer 7' single din pop up screen and it seems like a decent bit of kit.
Can the car be coded for the screen not to pop up ?

I wish I could remove the OEM screen and just have it as if it was never fitted.

Anyways if someone can tell me if it can be coded that would be great.

I'm trying to remember my old one and I think i remember if you close it from the buttons next to the pop up then it stays closed next time you start up anyway? been a while though so i may be mistaken

I don't think you can stop it popping up at start up. Used to annoy the hell out of me. Then it broke about 6-7 years ago. Still broke. :D

You could disconnect the plug that powers the screen, it's behind the pop off panel below the heater controls

I'm sure you are right. I did this then wondered why my screen didn't pop up the next time I switched on the ignition. I pressed the button again to open it and it went back to opening on ignition.

I thought so, i didn't really use the screen and preferred it shut, Im almost certain I had to manually open it when i wanted to occasionally use it then it would open again next time until i manually closed it again and then would stay shut again.. . not sure if that was coded in by a previous owner or standard though

Cheers lads!

I know people often retrofit missing factory options but I'd love to take that thing out and have a clean uncluttered car :)

Cut it out then wrap the top of dash maybe? :)

THis is the easy way to stop the screen from opening. I would also disconnect the satnav drive as you are replacing the headunit.

Close it with the buttons on the right and it wont pop up again until you press the button.
